I don't have a tank yet, but bought a mini a few days ago. I've been playing with the trigger, and if I turn it on with the eyes off, it'll click when I pull the trigger.

Is this bad to do? Its useful to hear whenever I pull the trigger, I'm messing with the different modes and stuff.

Thats the solenoid clicking. Its not harmful but dont do it too much otherwise it will wear out your solenoid. To find modes i do that too, just dont do it in excess.

there's no reason it should be. it's just an electromagnet turning on and off

It seems though that those do go bad after a while. The less stress on them the better off you are im sure.
