Not freak, if you go inserts get a scepter kit, it's way better. As far as boards, t-board, virtue, or the APE rampage board that is about to come out.

bolt- l6 for lighest, nano if you want same performance but less noise, havnt test my stage 1 v3 yet'. Lucky claims there bolt to help with consistancy'.
board- t-board, although ape looks promising', i prefer damon@scenario-dreams
eyes- scenario dreams eyes "just cosmetic really"
barrel kit- in my own opinion SLY, freak is a good kit for the money but there are definately better barrel options out there'
trigger- preference really, mines custom/roller/carbon fiber so ive got no complaints, reccomend trying out different triggers at the field or at the local shop
regulator- evolve pi looks best on the charts ive seen, i prefer my hyper 2 for all around performance..im getting +/-1 but my ion is far from stock'....far from being/looking like an ion really', consistancy is more then just a regulator'
grips- preference
qev- 360 blows, eclipse strips easily, clippard/lucky is the best qev for the money. 360 is hit or miss, mostly miss which means you must run a higher operating presure and dwell to get the same FPS of another qev'
my last set-up was shooting 285fps @ 100psi with my dwell at 10.5MS, my consistancy was +/- 1-2 fps and no drop-off tested to 22bps.

^^Pretty good advice, but the evolve PI is pretty hard to come across/rare. I saw a guy selling one on the nation for 65, but the reason they are rare is because the last batch of them that was made was messed up for some reason. AKA regs are pretty good, and I would personally take a CP over a hyper2. No, I'm not biased, I in fact have a hyper2 on my ion.
I have a macdev qev for my ion and so far it's the only internal that hasn't given me some kind of problem, so it gets a from me.

okay, if your getting an ion, get these upgrades with the gun: qlock feedneck, new trigger (cp is best choice), on/off, new barrel (get a kit for best accuracy), reg, i dont know which board is best but i heard the best about the t-board, new eyes (stock eyes suck), techt L6 bolt, SP 360 QEV, and new body kits if you want cus they all look sick. try paintball gear.com for best prices, but if they dont have all this, go to punisherspb.com cus they have all the stuff for same price and literally ALWAYS in stock. good luck and have fun with this gun, i have it

have you actually tried any of those parts you just mentioned?
first off
trigger is based on oppinion sense anything with a roller will perform well
board- t-board is best bang for the buck but if you want every bell and whistle there are other choices, personally the t-board suites me just fine and has a very nice price tag with it
new eyes? are you serious? The aftermarket eyes are a cosmetic mod, there is 0 performance gain between laser eyes and stock SP eyes, only difference is the laser eyes you can actually see the color and so fourth, its purley cosmetic, save your money and just use stock eyes, they work fine, if your chopping with stock eyes then your gun is having other issues'
sp 360 qev- worst performance qev on the market today, yes its installtion is nice and adjustable and the design of it is great for removing/adjusting and so fourth, but performance wise it sucks. With this qev you will be forced to run a higher dwell decreasing your highest ROF. I had a 360 qev, i had to run my dwell at 22MS for the bolt to cycle, threw on a clippard and im +/-2 @10.5 ms !!. I reccomend the clippard qev, ive used sp, clippard and eclipse, clippard performed the best.
body- personal opinion really, something BOB would be nice, dont be discouraged from "semi" bob bodys...it takes a whole 15 seconds to remove the bolt on a foehn and a whole 8 on a stage 5..."not a big deal"

well i've had to get new eyes cus they broke for no reason, and mine dont work properly and i dont have any reason for them to, so from what information i have, they are crappy. and with the t-board, i only said that cus i've heard recomendations with that board more than anythinge else. and no, i havnt tried ALL those parts, but i have the ones i have on my gun, and a few other.

I like my ANS trigger but thats my opinion. I love my virtue lazer eyes don't regret them. I'd invest in spring detents thats what I have and they work good

when you get a trigger (you deffinitly should) try the ones that your interested in first, becuase i was wrong up there ^^^^ they're all about opinion, and you should defitly feel the way it shoots on a gun before buying it. most shops i've been to have guns out that have diff triggers on them. try them out before bying and see if you like them/\/\/\/\/\/\

So I am missing something here. How do you know what the dwell ms is? Is there an LCD mod or somthing? Just start at the lowest setting and work your way up and know the ms increments?

yes
know the incriments, some boards are .5MS per click, some 1ms per click, some 1.5ms per click and so fourth'
should say in the owners manual for what-ever board you own'
best way to tune is just start at lowest dwell setting and keep raising the dwell until the gun fully cycles "dry-firing", 1 click at a time, then once it fully cyles dry add a paintball and raise the dwell until the paintball fully exits the marker/fully cycles with paint, then add 2-3 clicks and your done'
