Problem
When I air up my brothers ion, it makes a hissing noise then stays. When I try to fire, I just hear a small sound of air. I opened the grips, the air is just coming out of the bottom of the board. It isn't moving the bolt at all.

Take the gun apart just up to where you take all the screws out so you can air it up without breaking your gun(which means the banjo fittings are still in) and take the board out with it, the try to feel where its leaking or try moving the hoses around a little. Post back when you do it.

Check all the o-rings, make sure they are the right size. Pray that it isn't your solenoid.

You guys don't understand. It isn't a leak. When I pull the trigger to dryfire, the bolt doesn't move, it only shoots air out of the bottom of the board.

it sounds lie kit is your noid, wich is bad. try and buy a new board that has a diffrent noid if all else fails. if it isnt the noid it might be maybe the rear donut and all that is loose. idk ions are rally easy to take aoart so just take it apart to make sur everything is on right.

All of them on the bolt. Remember, to get the bolt out, you must use a pair of pliers to get the weird little bolt thingy off.
But it really does sound like the solenoid.

I can just unscrew part of it and take the bolt out, is that bad?
Checking will be done. How much are new boards these days?

no, thats how they are supposed to be. the rear donut is what you are taking off, do what i said in my last post and see if that fixes anything.

what is happening is your solenoid is not seating properly. this is allowing the air to escape (the process that happens to allow the marker to fire) The reason your hearing the noise when you pull the trigger is because either the pressure is too low to close the noid or the noid has some grime in it and is not sealing properly.
There is no Oring on the bolt that would allow this leak to occure.
Either pressure is way to high or way too low. (try and set to about 160)
or
noid plunger is dirty. (don't lube it, just clean it if needed)

do exactly what jaggy says, and change the battery.
if that doesn't fix 98% of your ion problems than i dont know what will.

This man is practically a smart parts god, so do what he says.
And poptart is right, if you do what Jaggy says and make sure you have a fresh battery, you can fix damn near anything on any ion. Jaggy is a smart man...

lol..jag's done so many of those upgrading the ION projects i could hear a hacksaw in the background when i read that post. but ya i don't know if this helps but have u checked the air in the tank? if its at 0 it will make the noise of the air escaping but wont fire. if not then Read Jag's post and fix that bad boy.
