Getting Ion. Need Help.
I'm going to get an Ion pretty soon here so I decided to come here and ask questions about it to all the Ion owners. Is there any things I should be aware of or not do with the Ion? and my second question, what upgrades for the Ion should I get first?

well there pretty good guns but the feedneck is a problem. just be careful around the banjo fitting/air hoses dont over tighten it or they will break.

I would say the only necessary upgrades to make it function well are:
Barrel
Feedneck
Qev
trigger (preference, if stock is fine, then keep it)
firebolt
with those five upgrades, the gun will scream and never let you down, but i would say internally the QEV is the most important, it makes things a lot easier on your solenoid so you clean it WAY less often. good luck
Oh, and one thing to remember, never gas up your ion beyond about 190. keep it lower ifpossible but try to avoid above that

the feed neck is a must! Then a drop with on/off or just the ASA if you like the tank where it is. Then a QEV will allow you to lower your DWELL. A board and a lighter bolt, the lighter the faster (L6 or a firebolt). A new barrel.... I like only performance mods, so i will never tell you a body.
In that order i would say.

Before you air it up for the first time, make sure the reg. pressure is at 0. Some have come with reg set to over 200 psi, and that much pressure, can cause you to blow hoses, or break your solenoid. So, be safe and lower it to zero before you air it up for the first time.
As far as upgrades are concerned, don't blow your money on too many. Stick with getting a feedneck, a barrel, a qev, and a trigger if you don't like the stock one (most people hate it). After that you are pretty much wasting money. To this day I regret buying a fire bolt. Biggest waste of $40. I noticed no performance increase from the thing.

maybe yours was just funky? lol
When I put a firebolt in, I dropped my dwells 3 blinks, lowered my pressure to 140 from 160 and am actually getting close to 250 more shots to a fill, which seems like plenty of a jump in performance for me

Quote:
"In understanding physics, you would have already caught at least two ways to improve on your efficiency and accuracy using this marker. The first step would be to lessen the weight used in the internals. Like a player's gear, the less weight the better the movements. In a paintball marker, the less the internals weigh, the less they have to work to perform the same task as any stock internals. With the hammer and the bolt weighing less, the markers operating pressure would be decreased allowing for a better efficiency."

and BE SURE to not destroy those bango fitting when you first take it apart...like all things DO NOT force anything...if it doesn't fit adjust it but be patient it takes about 10 min max to disassemble the marker depending on how long you've had it, but like al things if you don't want it to break (i've had to tell people after they paid me about $20 that their ION board is broken and i can't repair it without a new one, and its mostly from those battery wires the kid pulls them out and doesn't even realize the damage he did on it)

i'd say qev first, the smart parts 360 qev is supposed to be the best, or he ndz(its in the one i use) is pretty good to. as for bolt i'd say get the whole lucky bolt assembly (bolt, firing can, and rear donut). as for feednwck get the q-lock or the redz clamping feednecok, both are pretty much the same. as for barrel there are moe selections then you can imagine, just get a freak junior kit or a full freak. if not a dye ultralite with a 6.89 bore size. and if you go as far as the trigger i say the cp roller or the cl slingblade, both feel hella comfy.

Do you think that this feedneck is fine?
Kenny said the cp roller or the cl slingblade for triggers if i don't like the stock one. Are those good choices too?

oh btw when i said cl slingblade i meant cp slingblade. if you wanna go the extra nine yards with the ion, get the lucky stage 5 bodys. they were just recently put back into production, they have the rear donut and te firing can integrated so all you will need to do is pop in a bolt, board, trigger frame, and barrel and you will be mowing some faces.
