So...why are Ions hated?
I really dont see it..
- Their accurate (can be)
- Their Inexpensive
- Their Def fast enough (woth or without new board)
- Low Maintenance (for the most par)
I really dont see all the hatred

nice spelling. Because alot of people hate how all the newbs get em cuz they r from smartparts and r cheap. And alot of those nubs brag about there guns and stuff. Also sum people r mad that a gun this cheap can stand up to sum highends that cost alot more. Not saying ions as good as other highends but it can be compared

The people with highend guns are just mad because an ion is almost as good. key word 'almost' as good. But i would take a shocker or ego anyday but that was smartparts intention, make a cheap midend gun for everyone. But now the proto and ego are getting into the mix of cheap guns.

ummm....i agree with the proto...but egos are one of the more expensive types of guns...
i don't have a problem with ions....its just annoying when ppl who happen to own ions go and post videos of their "aggtastic gats"....

People hate them because, ions dropped the resale value many different guns when they came out, people think they look cheap, they're associated with noobs, and I personally don't like them because mine has had something go wrong with it every time I've used it since late july.

I'm not gonna lie, I LOVE my shocker. But I definitely see a little bit of the jealousy that all these other people fell some times when an ion steps up next to me and is just as fast and accurate as mine and paid half the price...lol.
They are great guns for the price. People just hate getting mowed by a noob gun. Let'm hate don't bother me. Just keep mowin them brother.

i own an ION and i got it because of the Weight to speed ratio..its fast and light which suits me perfectly..that and ofcourse the tight budget till i get a job this summer.
It can be accurate yes but then again thats barrel to player match (bore 2 if your picky =)
Fast...with a decent hopper and good fingers ya it can be (once again player thing)
Low maint...("a happy gun, is a good gun" -Tiger from webdogradio.us
they did drop the resale value of many higherend guns because most people went back and got their money back and went for that gun instead of the expensive DM series or Ego.
i can find a used DM4 or 5 for anywhere from $400 - $600 depending on new / quality and if it has ups or not...thats just how bad resale is on paintball gear.

well a lot of it has to do with the popularity of the marker, it is fast becoming the new 98c, they are everywhere, Iv seen them being used as high end rentals. Another part of it is that some people (not all) think that its the best marker in the world (im not saying its bad by any means, just that there are better markers out there) and these people tend to have an inflated ego because they have a new electronic marker which is lighter then somthing like the impulse, its just that you see people bragging about their ion when they really dont know what they have or how it compairs to the rest of the stuff on the market.

Ions arnt hated. Just the owners. Just the dumbass owners....so a lot of them....
People that have them for back up are fine. b/c it is a good backup gun. i wouldnt mind having one for back up as well. But its the retards that own them who give them a bad name.

Ion are the cause of genocide, murder, rape, and noobs. Also they are a known member of the communist party.

[Insert hawkeye's mom joke here]
All the statements above are pretty much why someone would hate an ion/its owner.
Take back where I live for a minute, the craze is little honda civics with shopping cart wings and a box around it. People think there "fly" in that stock thing with a pipe (not the whole exhaust). Its the same thing why i hate ricers.
Bunch of n00bs / idiots who think its teh ****s.

I have pics of said ion activities.
The hate for the user flows into hate for the gun.

I recently took 25 new players to a field where we were all given an Ion as a rental.
Problems (If you can call them that):
-Some of the guns were in burst mode. The refs said to play anyway, after not being able to convince the gun to stay in Semi.
-Difficulty using power button while wearing gloves.
-Eye related problems.
The semi/burst and eye problems I will openly say were because none of us had ever used one before, and we were told nothing other than how to turn it on and off. They were field rental guns, so you know they were beat on constantly. This is probably much of the power buttons problem.
And one of the guns had the trigger break. In half.
Otherwise they worked good.
In all honesty, they worked Too Good. Some of the first timers got shot up a lot more than they would have liked.
However, if I had been forced to rent a gun and compete as a walk on, I would have liked the fact that my rental gun could keep up fairly well.
Now with that out of the way, and my acknowledgment that they will get the job done:
I still have no desire to own one myself. If I am going to buy a new gun, I'll throw down an extra $50-100 bucks and buy something else used.
