need help with new ion
hey guys, i know that people have beaten ions to death with the same old questions, but i can't find exactly what i need.
i just ordered an ion stock new in box. what do i need to just get it shooting at it's stock 17bps or close? 10bps would be great for now.
what i "think" i need is a halo B hopper and a co2 tank. i want to go ahead and just get the halo 2 that is rated at 35 bps so i don't have to upgrade it in the future. upgrades to come, but i want to hit the field with this baby and worry about making it perfect later.
will the halo b fit right on to the gun or do i need an adapter? and also is this all i need FOR NOW??
thanks,
russell

Yes, a Halo will get you up to that speed with the Ion on Rebound 5.
The CO2 tank must have an anti-siphon tube inside of it. Otherwise, don't use it. If you don't have one installed in it then take your Ion and tank, if you have one, to a paintball shop and get one in there. Otherwise your Ion's solenoid is at risk of being damaged from the CO2.
The Halo will not fit perfect with the stock Ion feedneck. Look into a nice clamping feedneck (Smart Parts Q-Lok or the CCM No-Rise).
All you need to get rockin'.

seriously go with hpa. Once you buy a 20oz. co2 tank and an anti-siphon and getting it put on, it will cost you as much as a 48/3000 pure energy tank would cost and it's much better for your gun.

No. You cannot fill Compressed Air tanks with CO2, they use air. Ions tend to break after using CO2 for a short amount of time (I almost blew my noid after 300 shots). But if you got the right compresser its much easier (although i doubt you do because they go for around $3000, and no you cant use the compresser that your dad uses to pump up his tires)
I would suggest a 68 ci 4500 psi tank unless you are playing at a freinds house or something. Then i would suggest at least a 88 or 91 ci tank and 4500 psi so you can bring as much with you as possible.
Some good brands of Compressed air tanks are...
Centerflag
Crossfire
Carleton
Empire
Evil Scion
Dye throttle
These tanks willg o from $50 for a cheap one ot around $230 for a really nice one.

He asked what the bare minimum requirements were. Don't suggest a $200 tank.
A 45ci./3,000psi. compressed air tank is fine but you won't get many shots per fill. If your field has all day air, then that's a good thing with this tank.
And get a high pressure Crossfire if you can.

my problem is that i am not sure about the availability of compressed air. i live in oklahoma, and most of the places i go only have co2. i do understand the importance of the n2 tanks, but man, it would be a pain. maybe i will start off with co2 and if somthing goes wrong i will be covered by my warranty.......
i just see the compressed air being a whole lot of trouble.

Ya, it's important to check for a reliable compressed air tank filler before making a purchase, lol.

Man, if i were you i would have asked us this before you got an ION. I would have suggested an A5 with freak and egrip or something that you can use with CO2 w/o it being damaged. Dont be dissopointed if your ION breaks from using CO2. At least get you CO2 tanks anti syphoned.

lol..Never suggest a Tippmann.
Yoir Ion should be fine with CO2. Just try not to overshoot with it because it may freeze the Ion and make it sweat a little. Get HPA as soon as possible for the sake of your Ion, though.
And it MUST be anti-siphoned. No "atleasts".

Good, because you are asking for trouble with CO2

ya solenoids aren't a cheap part to fix either, i'd check your warranty and make sure that it covers the damage. because in the manual it states that the marker should be used with only High Pressure Air... don't wanna see you try then they turn u down and you have to buy another noid

p.s. i got 1200 paintballs for christmas!!
1200 balls/ 17 balls per second = 70.58 seconds of fun :P

If you put it on ramp and have a fast enough hopper, otherwise
17bps + Grav feed = About 10x as much fun! oh, and 10x as much unfun too, so yeah.
