Matching paint with barrel insert

I have an Ion with a Freak Jr. Barrel. I just got in some RPS AllStar paint and according to a chart I found on the net the average ball size is .686 - .689.

What is the best way to match a barrel insert with these balls? I have a .689 insert so I should be ok but should I buy a smaller insert for this paint?

I assume the best way to check the paint against the inserts is to put a few balls through the insert and see which one has the snuggest fit?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Marty

It should go in the insert easily, but not fall through. You should be able to give it a good, solid blow and have it go through kinda easily. a .689 will do for now, untill you get smaller ones or bigger ones. I wouldnt worry too much about it right now but if you have a few extra bucks you can go for it.

if you're not playing a well known tournament series, you dont need exactly perfect barrel bore to paint bore sizes.

A .689-.691 bore will work fine for just about anything.
