Ion with range
Hi guys I'm new to these forums and I'm going to get an Ion(I think). I play woods ball and I was wondering how much range i can get out of an ion.Is it like a spider or Timpmann? Or is it a lot shorter since its made for speedball? Also if you have suggestions toward other guns or something cause im not positive go ahead and say but it has to be able to use anti-siphon c02. I was wondering about the Promaster and Epiphany. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Every single gun out there will have the same range as long as their are chronoed at the same speed. Its a law of physics so every gun will shoot the same distance and the same speed.
DOnt use CO2 on an ION or a epiphany (IONs are better for the price) and im not sure about the promaster. If i were you and i really wanted to used CO2 i would get a A5, egrip, freak barrel, and double trigger. Plus you can use un-syphoned CO2.

Does the Ion work on a/s CO2, or do you have to use HPA? Sorry, don't mean to hijack anybody's thread.

as far as ive understood, it HAS to run on HPA. dont go over 320ish fps, or else youll risk hurting your friends when you play.

How come you HAVE to use hpa if the manual says you can use co2. Also its not the fact i cant afford hpa but i have to drive like 60-70miles just to get it. Oh yeh I want to get rid of tippys and spiders ive had nothing but problems with them. Ive had my internals replaced 4 times so far on my tippmann because they sent me a defective batch and evertime time i play with someone that has a spider someone has a problem...I havent seen anything on the Vs2 or 3 thoguh anyone know anything about it?

DO NOT GO OVER 300 FPS. That is what goggles are made to with stand and if you go over that there is a possibility of them breaking. They shouldnt but if the gun is over 300 then you cant get any $$$ out of the company for making a faulty product because you voided the wauranty.
Also dont run your ION on CO2. I cringe whenever i see that. The manual says it can run on anti-syphoned CO2 but it still hurts it. Just use air. I tried straight CO2 (twice actaully) and i over pressureized my gun once, the input gauge was off the chart (like 500 psi input, yeah, not good) and the other time my gun was fine but i only took like 50 shots, pry even less.

co2 will eat the seals in the ion liek hot cakes, two kids came in both with ions running no co2 and both had broken seals and hoses.

Ill get in depth with this.
Smart Parts was stupid for even mentioning CO2 in their manuals.
It will run on CO2, but as you shoot faster, it will freeze up. This is BAD!
When the CO2 gets cold enough it starts effecting the seals, macro lines, the solenoid and will screw them up.
Sucking in liquid CO2 would be catastrophic to your gun, thus this is why they say Anti-siphoned tanks. Anti syphon attempts to prevent liquid from entering your gun, but it is for sure impossible to prevent this tottaly.
SUre, it will run ok on CO2 for awhile but eventually it will screw it up and you will end up spending more money on fixing it then purchasing an HPA tank.
Why use HPA? Becuase its air. Plain and simple. Because its just air it doesnt freeze up when shot.
So dont risk it, Buy an HPA tank.

i ran mine on co2 WITH anti syphon for about 3 months with absolutely NO problems. i know it's risky, but you can do it, though i don't recommend it. i recently got hpa, and it even performs better. co2 will work, but like the other guys said, just get a cheap hpa tank off of ebay. i spend 40 bucks to get 2 20 oz tanks, then 30 on anti syphons. that's 70 bucks which i could have bought a hpa tank with. it's just not even much cheaper to run co2 especially if you do blow somthing.
these guys know their stuff, but if you want to be defiant then you can use co2 with a/s but just know that you have been warned.

i was going to go with anti-syphon, but i decided to go hpa because of all the feedback i got about it and its just nicer. The only bad thing is that hpa tanks cost a bundle, so make sure its a good tank and one u want by making sure the size is right and if the tank holds enough air, or get a cheap one like i did for just $80. Sure you have to fill up every 600 shots and weighs a little more, but its better than C02.
