Priority list
I'm planning on upgrading my ion a lot. What should be my priority list for upgrades? (no price limit)

you might hate me for this, but if there is no price limit - get a better marker.
i would suggest saving the money you'll put into your ion and get a marker you can upgrade (just like you can upgrade the ion) and then have an amazing marker rather than an alright marker.
trust me, if you do that you wont regret it.
that is of coarse, if you're doing this to make a marker you're going to use, which i'm going to assume you are or you would already know what you should put into your ion. i've got my ion now merely as a tinker toy base to play with and slaughter...
but if you're going to keep your ion no matter what people tell you (just like i did) i would suggest putting a qev into it and saving your money for something else...
a qev is the best bang for buck upgrade you can get out of an ion and will make it amazingly better... don't underestimate the capabilities of an qev.
just put that in and drop your dwell...

ions are good under a few circumstances. I had a spare regulator and an impulse/ion threaded barrel (from my impulse), before i got the ion, which helped me a lot.
a QEV is a must
as is a clamping feedneck
a better barrel is another great first upgrade.
beyond that, either start saving for a better gun, or you could put an aftermarket board in, like i did, to make the engine perform like a great gun.

An ON/OFF SHOULD BE FIRST! If you unscrew your tank under pressure alot it warpes the threads on both the tank and your asa, causing you to spend $40 on a new on/off and another $80 on a new tank reg. After that a feedneck, trigger, etc.

ya a Redz clamp feedneck and ASA are about $60-$80 and will save u many problems with hoppers and tanks.
New barrel i'd suggest a Dye UL, or possibly, a Freak barrel.

Actually, if you dont mind the height, the stock feedneck can work fine. Just take out the bottom 2 o-rings in it. But i would get a feedneck soon.

Sometimes a better place than ActionVillage is Ultimate Paintball for getting your Ion gear. I bought many upgrades from them, they are usually cheaper or same price.

Many people that are listing parts are not puting them in the order of how they will be used.
Very first thing you should do is buy a feedneck. No one likes to sit there with a bottle of lube trying to get your halo to fit into the feedneck.
After that, a On/Off. The stock ASA will work for awhile but the longer you use it, the greater chance of you warping your tank threads.
Either a trigger or a qev should be next.
-Purchase a trigger next if the stock one isnt "comfortable" for you, or you cant get it adjusted to your likeing.
-Purchase the QEV if your playing mostly in your back yard or have a small air tank. QEV's Dramaticly increase air efficiency. I shot about 4 hoppers(Halo) using a 68/45 Throttle and only used about 1000 PSI.
After the trigger, qev, feedneck, asa, Your gun will start to become unique.
If you dont have a Halo, or an egg by now, purchase one.
Now lets work on the internals a bit more.
Purchase new firing can/rear donut. These increase your air efficiency even more and can give a good 1-4 pod increase.
Next purchase either a regulator or a new barrel/barrel kit(depending on your style of play).
-Although the stock reg's are "ok" the best i've seen mine do was +/-10 FPS.
-----
The next purchases can be made either when the old ones go bad, or if you got a little extra cash laying around.
Detents(Mine are still fine.)
Grips
Body(Purely cosmetic unless you purchase one that has a Bolt Out Back design)
Grip Frame(Cosmetic and can reduce fatigue)
Board(Many brands available, Purchase only if your a tournament player)
-----
One last thing to cover. Bolt.
There are many bolts out now for the Ion. The bolts can increase air efficiency, reduce kick, reduce operating pressure(thus increasing air efficiency), can be more gentle on paint, and in some cases gives your gun a whole new sound.
I'd say purchase a bolt about the same time as the firing can/donut.
Hopes this helps.

I think a QEV is very important, and the best part is that it doesnt cost a whole heck of a lot.
QEV would be a top 2 part to buy. The stock barrel isnt that bad, but i should tell you, I have bought a freak for mine.
Probably the last thing i would buy is a trigger, it works ok stock.

Thanks.
I agree, the 90% of ion owners first thing they buy is a body and it kills me.
Was at a tournament the 25th, guy there had a Redz Ion($350~?) and it wasnt shooting. so i first asked if the battery was new,"yes" then asked what his dwell was set at."I turned it all the way down cause someone said it would save air"
Needless to say after i stopped laughing i raised his dwell till it actually fired.
He then proceeded to follow me around the rest of the day =\
In conclusion, anyone who buys an ion should be forced to read ALL of the ultimate sticky.
@Psychotix, feel free to PM me if you need any in depth instructions on installation or some advice and what to buy/what brand.
