I've got a spyder xtra stock, any tips on upgrading?

first i would look at a new barrel...if you dont have much to spend look at j&j ceramic barrels, cp 1 piece, or smart parts teardrop

next i would get HPA, nitrogen has a lot better consistancy than co2

get a regulator, something else to help with consistancy

then i would get an electronic trigger frame...not the Kingman Rocking trigger frame, just a standard ESP trigger frame...also if you got an electronic trigger you would need an electronic hopper...a 12v revvy would be fine

after that you could get a different dropforward/uni-mount, bolt, grips, feedneck...stuff like that but its not as important as the other things

don't spend 400 on a spyder it's a waste. get a new gun such as the ion or wrath or a used timmy. that would be a much better decision IMO.

Well, with $400 you can make a Spyder just about as good as an ION.

Eyes, board, barrel, trigger, regualtor, and aftermarket internals.

no, but w/ 700 you can make a spyder as good as an ion if you put timmy internals into it.......keep the xtra for a backup gun for your new ion

Umm, not much difference between timmy and spyder internals. ION doesn't have timmy internals....

the ion is light, durable, upgradable, and FAST! check out some vids on pbvids.com. they can really rip. the only 2 neccesities are a fast hopper (halo) and hpa. hope that helps

Thank you for serving our country and protecting our freedom. The Ion's a great gun, but personally i'd stick with a Spyder for a while.

Upgrading a Spyder is your own personal preference. Many people will tell you not to because you can just buy a higher-end marker. Some people, however, like to upgrade their guns to the max.. Gives them a sense of accomplishment. If this is your desicion, I'm with you...

1. Barrel - This should be the first upgrade you get. Barrels help with accuracy and consistancy. A good spyder barrel is the Teardrop or Progressive. Both of these preform basically the same, so the choice is preference. Both run you about $30-$40.

2. Trigger Frame & Hopper - The next leap I would take is buying a new, electronic trigger frame. There are a few out there for spyders, the Kingman ESP beign one of them. This will enable you to shoot much higher rates of fire, (semi-automatic, still).. With this, you will need a better hopper to keep up. There are many out there, Revvys, etc.

3. Bolt - There are many aftermarket bolts to use. The stock venturis aren't good at all. I'd suggest a ACS Delrin, or a Supahfly. These are both great bolts for spyders.

4. Air Source & Acessories - You have two options. Upgrade to HPA, or stick with Co2 and get a good Co2 Regulator. If you stick with Co2, get a Palmers reg. This is a good regulator for Co2 and will help you with your consistancy. If you get HPA, you can still get a regulator to help with consistancy. There are many avialable.

5. Misc Ups - You can do alot of things from there. Grips.. Maybe even an annodizing (paint) job to make it unique. Have fun with it man

Good luck and thanks for serving

heh, with $400 to spend on a paintball gun or upgrade your current one, you have a whole big bunch of possable combonations. Before I would buy anything I would spend at least 4-5 hours looking at diffrent stuff. Like how many balls per second will you want to be shooting? if less then say 10 then you dont relly need a electornic hopper. Then I would ask myself somthing like how quiet or efficient I want it to be, if I want it to be as quiet as possable then I would look into a gun that can operate at less then 350psi and get a ported barrel like a J&J ceramic as well as a regulater like a palmer stablizer regulater. Just keep in mind how you want it to perform within reason, and look at what is available. Then, just before you buy the stuff let us know what you plan on getting and we will fine tune your choices.

You wont regret it.

right now I have about $80 into preping my spyder compact into a spyderCocker and about 4 pages of drawings. I like to go for the priceless stuff myself, but that requires some elbow grease and machines most people cant access.

please enlighten me as to why he should stick with a spyder? ion for $285 will be well aheadof a maxed out spyder. ions are relatively easy to work on, have less moving parts, are generally more consistant and have a higher resale value. not to mention, im talking all stock ion...and it can get better.

so, why would he want a spyder, that when maxed out, could barely if at all keep up with a stock ion (which could still have room to upgrade, and give you that same sense of accomplishment)?
