wowz, i am a effin idiot (so don't tell me)

arrggg.g.....i plugged in my co2 tank today went to pull the trigger and noticed i forgot to cock it so i did and pulled the trigger and it started cycling as fast as it could....like when you run out of co2 except i had a full tank and it cycled for like a minute (seemingly).

i'd bet u'd never guess the x-chamber, low pressure chamber, and vertical adapter froze over.

did it cycle like that cause i cocked it after i put the tank on, or because the striker wasn't catching the sear, or what?

o yea and i haven't taken it apart yet cause it's still kinda froze over, so should everything be alright?

i would guess it would do that just because the sear isnt catching. ive cocked my gun after putting the tank on plenty of times and never had problems

its perfectly fine to cock the gun with the CO2 on.....my guess would be like u said, that the striker wasn't catching the sear....

make sure you arent missing any screws from your grip frame, the 2 that hold it onto the body. ive seen alot of kids lose one of those screws and the body separated from the frame enough that the sear wouldnt catch. also, make sure you remembered to put the valve pin, spring, and pin guide back in last time you took it apart. and another possible source could be the hammer o-ring or physical wear on the hammer or sear. if none of that fixes it, i suggest you throw that gun in the trash

replace the orings, clean and lube it up. put on another tank, if its the same problem then its more than likely your sear not catching

Yes you do. Any sear tripper needs to be cocked before airing up.

No they dont. If the spring is too tense, the hammer can actually push on the cup seal and cause it to vent down the barrel.

I owned a piranha, and spyder for several years and never had to cock it before I gassed it up. NEVER.

It has happened with me for three maybe four of the some 200 piranhas I take care of for the field I work at.

And the correct term is not sear tripper. Mags are sear trippers but are not blowbacks. Cockers are, and are not blowbacks in teh same respect spyders are.

I haven't seen a sear tripper that didn't need to be cocked first. Perhaps the sear trippers you have owned and work with are older models or something.
