Is the Kingman Spyder Electra 05 any good?
Im thinking about buying this gun, Me and my buddys just recently got into paintballing, Most of us have cheap walmart guns, but one of us has some spyder, and he wipes the field with us 9 times out of 10, he shoots very accurate for the most part with speed. Our guns arent very accurate and they dont shoot as hard as his.
The gun looks good, and runs off of Co2 and the barrel is supposed to be really accurate out of the box.
Or is there a better gun I should look into??
Just wondering, thanks for any help.

well if your looking to spend 2-3 hundred, find an ION. their really nice and will wipe that spider out. but you would need HPA and a fast hopper.
if you dont wanna do all that, then yea the electra is pretty good. also look at the spyder Imagine. its pretty popular beginner gun and it wouldnt surprise me if your friend had that.
i just saw full-of-paint's post. ill tell you now, no gun is trully 30 bps, or even 20. mechanically they are capable of hitting that, but your gonna have to fire that fast on your own. i doubt even a pro player can do that. as long as its 17 bps or over, your fine, but when searching for guns, dont fall head over heals for a 20-30 bps.

Or, you can get a T-Board, and switch it to full-auto.
Not while you are on an actual field, though...
Anyway, I plan on receiving the '05 Electra in a trade. If I were you, though, I would wait until the '06 comes out. It supposedly will come with eyes. Whether this is just a rumor or not, I'm not 100% sure.

Electra sucks my left testilcle. It is a terrible gun.
1. Rocking trigger: gay, not legal on fields, gay
2. It's still just a blowback, and sorry but you aren't even gonna get 20 bps on that POS
3. It's just another overpriced spyder
If you want a spyder just buy an imagine, w/ new barrel, decent hopper, and a good mask.

I love my Electra! The stock barrel is decent, but it comes down to the paint/barrel match. I opted for the Evil Pipe Kit ($79 on ebay). This way you can match your paint perfectly, and it now shoots friggin darts. You will still need a fast hopper, this gun is damn fast. My best bud is a full blown Autococker fan. He loves the accuracy of them. He shot my Electra today and about Sh#t his pants. The trigger is badass too! If you dont plan to play in tournaments, than the trigger isnt an issue. So dont let these Anti-Spyder guys deter you. It is still a blowback, but it has been a great gun. I got mine in a trade and couldnt be happier. Im beating guys with Autocockers, Timmys, and Angels. Not to take away from those very nice guns, but I think I made the right descision with the Electra. Two of my friends have had Ions and Wraths, they would not waste their money again. They are not all what they are made out to be.
05 Electra, Ricochet Apache hopper, Evil Pipe Kit - this has been a great combo for me! Go for it.

hmmm if you take it to tournyes such as PSP and NPPL you wont be albe to use it. You are limited at tourneys to i htink 15 bps. Anthing of and yer disqualified.
Im an aything-gun-that-can-hit-you-guy. Electras are nice I like em to. But Id get the upgrade bolt from stock.
BTW, Try Reds Pepper Stick. I love em. Just as good a s a Pipe but really handy..

nah, the trigger frame is illegal in tourny's...if your lookin to get into that, i was reffin and saw a kid with one and started shootin it, it doesnt get 30 bps, the bolt was skippin cause i was shootin it to fast....and its weird to walk, just buy an ION, so much better, 17bps with ramping, way custimisable, and easy to work on, so just buy a Smart Parts ION

You won't have problems with shooting it too fast. A guy that comes to our local field just bought an 05 electra, and was demoing it to us. eehh , just another spyder really. I'd go with an imagine anyday, and have leftover money for ups. Or, go with the ion if you want to spend more. I can walk a trigger damn fast, but walking the electra was a little more of a chore than a regular trigger. Not to say that you can't get used to it. It kicks like any other spyder though. Either get a victor, imagine, ion, or a dm5 or something. Most likely the imagine if you want to spend around 100 bucks, or ion for 300 + air tank.

Egos and Angels aren't the only guns that ramp...
Egos and Angels aren't banned. Just because they are among the most expensive of paintball guns doesn't mean that they are the fastest around, and if your board has tourney lock (which most do), you're good to go.

just as good as any other good blowback bolt entry marker. entry markers are usually just a matter of preference

My friend recently had me fix his electra for him, after which we took it to the field and I played a couple rounds with it to make sure...
First off, it's a blowback. As far as I have found, a blowback is a blowback is a blowback. The electra is just a gimmie over the Imagine, plus its trigger frame is not tournament legal and I could only get it to go steady at 14bps and ONCE bursted it to 16bps, whereas when I had an Ion I could hold a steady 15bps and burst to 18 or 19, and that was when I was fairly new to paintballing...
Assuming the electra COULD do 30bps (which I seriously doubt, even if your fingers could move that fast, which they can't), a loader to feed that is going to cost you big bucks anyway. And in my experience agitated hoppers can't hit 15 bps, so you'd probably want a HALO or something, which adds another $100 to your cost.
If you've got the money, here's what I suggest for you-
SmartParts Ion=$250 or so
68/4500 Fiber HPA Tank=$150 or so
HALO B Loader=I've seen them as low as $90
...And assuming you've got the mask and other such small things that comes to $490
Or if you're looking for something a little more economical...
Spyder Imagine=I've seen them go for $80
Some 16oz CO2 Tank=like 10 bucks or something
HALO B Loader (hoppers are a good investment, and this is the only sure-fire way you'll never have to worry about your hopper keeping up )= $90
Anti-Chop Bolt=$20 or so
Progressive Barrel=$30 ish?
Dye Sticky Grips=$8 maybe...stock grips hurt your hands
...And you come up spending less than you would to get a new electra at $236, and compared with the electra you'll have a marker on the same performance level that also happens to be tournament-legal. Put a T-Board on it if you want to take off the 12 or 13 bps cap (whatever it is now..) and it can match the electra in speed too. Plus you get a loader that will keep up with all your future markers, something you probably wouldn't have had enough money for if you got the electra.

First off, the Electra is completely tounament legal... it has a tournament board setting and is approved by both PSP and NPPL. What is not legal is the mod that makes the trigger bounce back and forth using the magnets.
Secondly, the 06 Electra is indeed coming out with a reg and bouncebeam eyes (but it is the fugliest barf green color I have ever seen). It also doesn't have the burst settngs like the 05 electra does (but that might not matter). As of when it come out, I would have no clue.
Third of all I OWN an electra and am very pleased with the performance and style of the marker. The barrel is one of the best stock barrels I have ever shot and right out of the box is much better than the ion (the ion can be UPGRADED to be better but that takes a lot of cash). The electra has almost no plastic parts and feels very solid unlike the ion that fells like a toy in your hand (but this is all based on PERSONAL PREFERENCE). The weight isn't too heavy but it does kick quite a bit. You CAN use CO2 but I would not recommend it unless you had an anti-siphon tank. All in all, I really don't care what you use but I'm just saying that the electra is worth the money. You might want to wait for the 06 model though.

sorry buddy but there is no way a spyder can be better than an ion. and first of all, i highly doubt anyone could get it past about 15bps. spyder doesnt make quality guns, if you just play every once in a while then its cool, but otherwise id stay waaayyy away from spyders. ive come to see that they are extremely unreliable and thats why ive never owned one. you would be much happier with an ion even if it does require saving a little more money if you play more than like once a month. the stock ion barrel is really nice too i played one tourney and a few practices with it before buying a new one.
edit: whoever said the evil pipe shoots darts is an idiot or theyre having really good luck because from what ive seen/heard of them from most ppl they suck. go w/ a cp if ur gona get an aftermarket barrel
ps. dont buy a spyder.
