First off let me say that yes, I've read every single sticky related to 'which gun to buy,' and yet I still have a tough choice.

I'm trying to figure out a good gun to buy, one for me, one for my friend. The main problem is budget, I'd like to spend the least amount possible but still have a decent, durable gun.

The other day at Dick's sporting goods I saw Spyder Victor I's I believe for 70 bucks. I was thinking about picking up two of those, but from what I've read the frame is plastic and breaks easily. So today I've been poking around and looking at the other Spyder models, and have read that people here really enjoy the Spyder Imagines.

Our field here is like a somewhat small underground cave, with lots of walls/bunkers. We'd be playing a little woodball as well.

I'm sure that most people will reccomend the Spyder Imagine, but I'm not sure if I'd really use auto/burst, and being as I'm new, I would be horrible at attempting to repair it if something went wrong.

So ultimately what do you guys think, splurge and get imagines, or stick with the lower priced victors for now?

Er, one more thing. What size tank should I be looking at, and what paint is the best 'budget paint'?

Definately get the Imagine. Mode wise- just use semi. Imagines are the exact same internally as Victors, and all Spyders are really easy to fix.

For tanks, you have two options, Co2 and HPA. YOu can get a 48.3000 steel HPA tank for around 60 new, or a 9-20 oz co2, which range from 15-25 bucks.

Hey, thanks for the reply...If the paintball shop here has an imagine for less than 120 or so, I'll probably go with that.

In regards to my tank question, I was more curious about which size of co2 tank to get..20 seems like a lot, I was thinking maybe 12?

edit: also, will a basic 4$ gravity hopper be able to handle burst fire?

A 12 will do you fine.
A grav feed might have toruble keeping up with burst, just use semi.

why buy an imagine for $120 when you can get it for $80-$90 elsewhere?
I HIGHLY recommend the imagine. Even though it's got different modes, i never used them. I found a viewloader revolution worked fairly well. it chopped on occasion, but if youv'e got a squeegee, it's no big deal.

imagfine my area are 120 cuz of canada but not sure all the stores in my area dont sell old guns so imagines are hard to find
