Smile New guy with questions

Im not new to paintball but Im new to shopping for a marker (ive just rented forever). Im leaning towards a Xtra 07, but im confused as to which type of feed neck to buy, holes or no holes. Im also thinking of replacing to the barrel right away, so 12 or 14 inch is better? The one ive got my eye on is the smartparts progressive 14 incher. Any other friendly advice is also welcome.

Alrighty, I'll save you the "noob talk"

If take off the feedneck and look at it, it will either have a hole for the screw to go into, or a tab that the screw keeps down in place. Most likely, the Xtra 07 will have the tabbed feedneck, but I'm not 100% sure.

As for barrel length, it's all personal preference, but I'm quite partial to 12" barrels myself
As for the actual barrel, I'd reccomend the J&J Ceramic over any other one piece barrel hands down, it will save you trouble in the long run.

And if you're really going to get a Spyder, the mods in my sig are a great thing to do (or have done for you )

Best of luck!

I also see ALOT of refurb'd pilot acs', WTF? did these really have teething problems? or is spyder just selling all the "new old stock" as refurb'd? Costs the same as a xtra, already has nice barrel, but needs s E-hopper....

People send back "broken" markers, Kingman fixes them up and sells them used as "Refurb"

The Pilot barrel is nothing special, and in all reality, it isn't very good either.

The feedneck on the xtra sucks because you have to use an elbow to get the hopper on. I'm pretty sure the xtra uses holes for the feedneck, so a clamping one or a screw tightened feedneck that eliminates the need for the elbow should do you just fine. But i suggest you wait until you have the marker ad use it before you get any upgrades, so you know what you dislike and wish to upgrade. If you can't wait, you can always go to the kingman website, on the support section they have the manuals for the xtra in pdf format, and with the manual comes the diagram of the marker and there you can see every part of it individually and with much detail and see which type of parts you should order.

12 and 14 inch barrels are ok. 14 is a bit too long for my taste but it'll work just fine. The progressive barrel is good.

But after using a Pilot with a stock barrel and a J&J, it was like a night and day difference. Shot out chops and shot straight after 1-3 more shots. Try that with stock

Oh I know what a J&J is capable of, having owned a couple. That is really the only perk it has over the stock.

And that only perk makes a hell of a difference

True both barrels are really similer is performance, but I always loved the was that J&J's always shot straight, no matter what

Minus the three or so shots it takes to get that paint outta there. Honestly I doubt he wil leven have the spyder long enough to need that J&J barrel. If it was a vs2/RS series I'd say sure but it really isn't worth getting a barrel for the old spyders like that/

Awww, don't say that, you make me feel bad since I still use my Imagine with a J&J all the time

And on top of that, I'd rather get a barrel kit for something from the VS series, maybe even the Edge kit

Oh I have no hate for people who sue there spyders I broke out my brother VL charger every now and then just to kick back on the memories. The only guns I'd buy barrel kits for are ocker threaded ones because 9/10 guns are cocker threaded.

Unless you really know you're keeping the both the gun and the barrels.

I'm probably getting a FREAK back for my Spyder, ot a Pipe, since FirstCallPaintall had an amazing deal on them last time I checked. 4 backs and a front (either normal or the Ultra) for something like $20 shipped

Probably going to get the FREAK though, man I love that thing

I have had nothing but bad things from freaks. If you wanna go freak get a DW if they make them in the correct threads. firstcallpaintball is one of my sponsors so naturally I gotta rep them, but that is a good deal on a pipe kit.

There is more to a barrel then the bore, the porting, quality of the barrels make, and quality of say acrylic coats like the one in the DW barrel to make it swabable. Accuracy is determined with more things than just a bore size.
