Spyder VS2
So I got this marker for a song at actionvillage. I've got about 400 shots through it. Now when I fire, the bolt hits the paintball, but it goes nowhere. I pull the bolt and it loads another ball and again nowhere. Usually on the 3rd ball, it fires to have 3 balls leave the barrel. Is this a bolt spring tension issue, or the pressure not being high enough which is currently around 225-250? Am I missing something else. I didn't figure oiling and cleaning would be necessary just yet.
Regards,
Pepper

Something isn't right with your valve, take it down, clean and relube everything, put back together, and see what happens

OK, I haven't taken it apart yet, but I noticed that when I have it on 3 shot burst, the second shot just don't seem to get it done. I still plan on taking it apart although I'm not sure what I'm looking for and I thought the additional info may help.

I'm wondering when you say pressure at 225-250... do you mean psi on your marker? Community pound on me if i'm wrong, but isnt the VS2 a high pressure marker (800psi)?

Nope, the VS2 uses the G3 Balance Valve system that operates down to 200 psi, and that's why it's so great

Well, I figured it out, and AZN was right. It was a problem with the valve. The screw that held the valve assembly to the marker frame was loose. After tightening it up and reassembling, it worked like a charm. May have to employ a little thread lock next time I break it open. Thanks for the help.

OK, now I'm getting a littled miffed. After putting the marker back together, it worked for about 50 shots and began freezing again. I thought it had something to do with the poor paint that I am using since I noticed that it is not exactly round and doesn't necessarily slide down the barrel on its own. I took it apart again. The screw holding the valve was still where it should be. I reassembled the marker and tried again, still the same problem. I turned up the pressure to ~290 psi... same problem. I decided to dry fire it. I noticed that when I fire real fast in semi, I can get the bolt to NOT recock on its own.... in other words freezing just like it did before. I put the marker in 3 shot burst and experienced the same thing. At this point, I think I've had way too many issues with a brand new marker... thoughts.

So you're using CO2 ? If you do, then you know your troubles. The VS2 isn't designed to run with CO2, whatever anyone else can say. This is a Kingman fact.
If you do, then you have to relube everything : put 3-4 drops of oil in the ASA hole, then dry fire about 50 shots (remember to take off the barrel). It should help alot.
But remember : Co2 shouldn't be used with that marker. Use air or nitro, and everything will get better.

Not CO2. By freezing I mean the bolt hits the paintball and the paintball goes nowhere.

Maybe the reg needs lube : try this. Put 3-4 drop of paintball oil in the ASA then dry fire about 50 times. It helps to lube the reg, and that needs to be done with brand new marker, and each 2000 rounds.

Just tried it, didn't help. Still sputters out when firing fast and won't recock. I consider myself to be fairly mechanically saavy. No reason for it to be this crazy right out of the box. Just going to send it back.

Springs might be too stiff, bolt might be defective too. Could also be the paint that is way to large for the barrel. Send it back anyway.

OK, so I got what I needed to send it back which I am doing, but now I'm concerned about what replacement marker to get. I liked the look and feel of the VS2 but holy $#!^. The other alternative was obviously the Ion. Thoughts?

Pepper

If you get a new ASA, you'll be happy, you don't need a new marker.

Yeah, I hear ya and I hope you're right. I've already made arrangements to return it. My feeling is that a marker out of the box should operate as advertised and I shouldn't need to get anything new to make it work. I'll just take your comment as a continued vote of confidence in Spyder. I'll probably give er' another whirl. Thanks for the help.

It's just that the crappy ASA they supply is just that, real crappy.
Getting a new ASA is a good thing anyways, even if the marker dies or whatnot, you can take it off and put it on a different one.
