How a Spyder Works

This thread will help to explain how a spyder or spyder clone works.

There are 5 basic parts that work together to fire a paintball with each shot. Here is a list of them and there location in the marker:

1). Sear - top of the trigger frame
2). Hammer or striker - Bottom tube, towards the back of the marker
3). Main Spring Assembly - behind the hammer, includes spring and spring guide.
4. Valve assembly - bottom tube towards the front of the marker.
5. Bolt - occupies the whole top tube of the marker

Here's how all the parts work together

Connected to and above the trigger is what is called a sear. This catches the hammer/striker which is connected to the bolt and holds it in place directly above the trigger. When you pull the trigger, the sear drops and with the aid of the spring, the hammer/striker slides forward, hits the valve pin, and opens the valve. The valve dwells (how long it stays open) long enough for air to enter the valve body and then go up into the bolt through a small hole. The bolt is in the forward position as we speak. The air comes out the face of the bolt and pushes the ball out of the chamber, through the barrel, and out into the wild. Jump back to the valve. As the air goes up into the bolt, a certain amount of air sneaks out of the back of the valve through a small space that is there because of the flat part of the pin. This puts the Bolt/Hammer (striker) assembly back into its cocked position above the sear and ready to be fired again.

Still open for suggestions.

Thats a mechanical, what about the electronics? Its basically the same but with a micro-switch and a circuit board which the microswitch activates the solenoid to trip the sear.

Make sure you're not in semiauto 13BPS mode (green and red light) You can't change it from there. Press the button once or twice to enter burst or full auto. You don't have the Walmart version do you? If so make sure to add a computer jumper to the jumper pins inside the grip first. Good luck.

It's a little piece of plastic, about the size of a tic/tac with metal inside that will allow you to connect 2 pins on an electrical board together which is necessary to get the Walmart version to fire full auto. Radio Shack will have them on the cheap but if there are any computer stores nearby you could probably get a couple for free. They are usually used in computers to set the drive and motherboard configuration. There are other ways to short the pins together (solder or wire) but neither are as safe or reliable as the jumper. If you have any more Qs feel free to PM me so we don't clutter this thread up.

Yep - the folks at Wal-mart are very image conscious. They do not want to be seen as the provider of "automatic weapons" to the masses, so in order for Kingman to sell in their stores, they told them to disable the full auto mode. Its a simple fix as Javaman has noted.

So, I took apart a borrowed Spyder to use, and began cleaning it.. A Small metal Shim fell out.
Where's she go... Anyone?

Thanks.

i know! it goes in the lower tube, behind the shim (which goes into the spring) it will be between the shim and the end cap.

No, I'm asking where the shim itself goes.
Or do you mean between the plastic shim and the end cap?
