Ok, I know people might have posted about this before, but I want to make a thread about how to do it, where to get it, how much it will cost and the pros and cons of doing the mod. Who knows, maybe a stickey?

What To Buy?:
Ok, I suggest that you go to RadioShack in person, or you can order online. The two switches that I have found that work are the SPDT switch, and SPDT Switch with 3/4" Roller Lever. Opperating force on both of these is 5 grams.

-Specs
--The Standard SPDT Switch
--- Operating force: 5 grams. Rated 5 amps at 250VAC. Body size: 3/4x1/4x3/8". UL listed.

---Operating force: 5 grams. Rated 5 amps at 250VAC. Body size: 3/4x1/4x3/8". UL listed.

They are pretty much the same. The cost of these puppys is $2.69 each. If I remember correctly, they came out to $2.91 each with tax. Can't beat that with a stick!

Now the Fun part, Instalation!
You will need:
-Saurering Gun
-Saudering Picker Upper
-Wire Clippper
-Sauder
-Hammer
-Tapping Utensel

1)Remove the grips.
2)You will see 2 pins behind the trigger. Tap those out with the hammer and tapping utensel. I thin strong nail works good.(Like an oxymoron)
3)Then same way you took out the old switch, do that to the trigger pin.
4)Pull the switich through the opening of the trigger frame.
5)Because it is already striped, all you do is heat up the old sauder and all you have to do is apply pressure and the 2 I'm pretty sure wires will come off.
6)Take a quick break, your almost done!

7)The same way you took out the old switch, put in the new one.
8)Place the wires the way you took the out. I'm 99.99% sure that on if the prongs is off set, shouldn't be too hard. It wasn't for me. Useing the sauder, put the pre striped wires, or you might have to on the prongs, apply sauder, and heat back on!
9)Line up the now cooled switch and tap the pins back in with the trusty ole' hammer.
10)Put trigger back in the way you put the switch in.
11)Put grips back on.
12)There is no twelveth step YAY!

Pros
-Being about 1/2 the pull, its MUCH faster.
-Lighter
-Braging Rights

Cons
-If you mess up, you have to start over again. Though that is not hard with my handy dandy list!
-See after notes on the roller switch.

Would I recomend this?
Yes.

After Notes, Standard SPDT Switch
-Besure to play around the screw above the trigger, get it close, but not too close or there is very little return.
-It is what I have, I love it, and people at the local field do to!

After Notes, Roller SPDT Switch
-If you read the cons section you will notice I asked you to read this. Becaues there is a roller on the front of the switch, you NEED TO TAKE THE SCREW ABOVE THE TRIGGER ALL THE WAY OUT! Even then, it might be too long. Sand off some of the front of the trigger by where the top of the frame is. This will make the pull longer!

The End, for now...
I really like this mod. For more speed try taking out the spring under the trigger.

Im veryt tempted to sticky. But im not sure just yet. Maybe explaining the other mods? Like how to polish the internals and yada yada yada. Just explain the mods that otter might have been to vauge on. Such as the magnetic trigger.

Ok, I'm goona fix everything up and make it better now.

Stock Bolt Mod., or poor mans lightining bolt mod!

This process is very simple. It involves taking the sart shaped item out of you stock Spyder bolt.

How to do this?
1)You'll need some medium sized needle nosed pliers. They need to be skinny enough to fix in the front of the bolt, but strong enough to rip that bad boy out
2)Place the needle nose pilers in the front of the bolt.
3)Twist the pliers counter Clock wise while looking at the bolt

It should then unscrew.

If it does not, heat it up with a zippo lighter or something, there might be loctite in it.

I have not yet done this, so I suggest that you read up on how to do that at the web site. He explanes it very well and I am going to do it as soon as I can. After that time I will then tell you how it went and any other pointers and tricks to do this!

Magnetic Trigger Job!

This one is a bit trickey so, here is a link to do this at Otters web site!

Its basicly putting one magnet on the top, and one on the trigger so they repell. I'm plaing on trying this as well, so I'll be sure to let you guys be the first to know how it goes!

Yep that looks pretty good. Sticky!!!!!!!! I dont think I will do anymore stikies but later on when your not busy or something add hpw to shorten the mech pull so we can replace the joe bob one.

I'm sure that you meant well and I do appreciate the info but generally it's considered bad form to copy word for word with pictures directly off of a someone's website. I know you credited him in the posts (except for the last one!) but with all of the work Otter did, he should be getting the traffic on his site. Very few people may tip his paypal but I think he deserves it. Even worse is the fact that each of the linked images is hosted by him, so he's having to eat the bandwidth of hundreds of people who don't see his other stuff. Like I said, I'm sure you meant well, but it's not a good idea.

*FYI* I'm not affiliated with Otter at all, but I respect his contribution to PB knowlege.

A simple link to Otter's would have done the job. You're just basically regurgitating (if even that but more like plagiarizing) the information that Otter has graced us with. I do admire that you give him credit but it would have been more subtle had you provided the link instead.

i started the whole 5 gram switch mod from rat shack alon time ago. but peeps though i was crazy cause 5 grams was to little.

I just put one of those spdt switches in my gun. I went through 2 of them b/c I fried them up trying to attach the wires to the switch, so becareful when you do it.
