Nope it will work perfectt out of the box. Chip comes stock. The gun works like any other spyder. It is a very nice gun and you might want to talk to LookOverThere and ask his opinions on the gun since he just got it.

I have a E99 and im sure its almost identical to the Avant besides the frame and the E99 is VERY nice IMO. So you will like it.

It will be a great first gun and performs pretty well ou tof the box. like fiki said, it is a lot like the e99 and I know that that is a good gun. As far as a new "chip" you probably wont need one at first but later as you get used to the gun you may find yourself outfiring the board, and then you will need the new board. Otherwise you can get them for there special attributes such as eyes and stuff, which can be very helpful, but not neccessary by any means.
