spyders with a reg

spyder's run on high pressure, correct? then why would someone put a reg on one? wouldn't that just cut it down to the point that it couldn't blow back (assuming it is regulated to 300-350)? wouldn't it just sputter out? like, if i regulated it at 300-350, that couldn't work could it? my friend wants to put a reg on his shutter, but would it help him? and if you regged it at 800, that culdn't do any good could it? then it'd be like a gas-thru right?

yes it would help, it lowers operating pressure, along with other upgrades, liike a valve, drilled out v/a, and nitrogen, a regulator regulates the amount of air out into the gun, and can be set to 800psi if needed

consistency is the name of the game.... thats what regs are good for. You can lower the operating pressure of a spyder down to almost nothing. as long as it blows back. The theory being that if the air hits the ball is consistent and the same all the time your going to have better accuracy... so shooting ropes. But its one of the better upgrades really. Why hit the ball with so much pressure 800psi when you can hit it with significantly lower pressure and still get the gun to blow back. Its a debate that will forever go on. I suggest reading the PBN low pressure thread.

Yep consistency is the one thing a reg can do that no other device can. However with simple home mods you can lower it down to 600 PSI. Easily. Maybe a little more but more or less around there.

Wouldnt lowering the pressure via the regulator make it so the balls dont go as far?

Stock Spyders can run at 500psi with reliable recocking and 280fps. Going any lower usually requires valve rework/replacement and some flow help.

If your buddy ran his at 600psi, he'd benifit from the regulator and not have to do anything more than re-spring to get the proper velocity.
