Bolt compatability

Ok here's the deal. I was on ebay looking for a shocktech bolt for my new 04 imagine. I did a buy it now on a rear cocking bolt. I was in a hurry and then realized this was a rear cocking bolt with a long backend like the ones used for the E99, where the bolt sticks out the back with a beavertail sight rail. I need the shortie version to properly fit my imagine. I emailed the guy several times but I just recieved a notice of payment acceptance and I don't have any clue as if he read my mails and is going to send the correct bolt. Anyways, to avoid hassle, if he does end up sending the longer bolt, would it work in my imagine if I just hacked off the backend and modified it so it is similar to the stock bolt in the imagine. As long as the bolt itself is the exact same thing it should work...

From the looks of the pictures of the Imagine, you can just cut the top circle off the velocity adjuster circle. Then the bolt would just stick out the back. I wouldn't hack the bolt if I were you.

And I don't want a 6 inch bolt sticking out the back and taking my eye out, I am going to cut the back end off the bolt and thread a hole for a small plastic knob, so it will be very similar to the stock setup but with a plastic knob on the end to cock it. I just need to know if the two bolts themselves are the same besides the length of the backends.

you can by a new sight rail with beavertail. i think imagines look nicer with them because they look like you did a custom job on it

I have an 04 imagine so the sight rail would not work because the body is different, and for the second time, I do not want a beaver tail or a bolt sticking out the back of the gun. I simply wish to know if the bolt itself is the same except for the length of the backend.

yeah its the same, you could just cut off the back, but then it would be hard to cock and look weird

What I intend to do, is cut the back off, then drill a small hole and tap it, then thread a small plastic knob onto the back so I can grab onto that to pull it, similar to the stock setup, but with a plastic knob.

It will fit in your spyder perfectly as long as you cut it off. If you cut it nicely it should look fine.

yes, if you cut off the back of the bolt and put a cocking knob in, it will look awesome, plus people will know you did a custom job, upping the coolness of your gun.

Ok cool, thanks for the help guys. If he does end up sending the long rear cocking one I will just mod it like I planned. Hopefully he read my mail and will send me the correct one so I don't need to deal with it. Kind of tired after breaking 2 in the chamber after playing today, having to tear down the gun to clean it out. I need to get used to firing the gun slower until I get a better hopper, the 32 degrees 200 ball hopper doesn't support 8+ balls per second I was trying to shoot at lol.

LOL ok well i have a shock tech bolt on my e99 you could cut tap it if you want or you could heat the center of the bolt where the back n the front are srewed on (dont worry its all metal might take some effort tho) then you can remove the allen screw n replace it with a regular screw of the same length so you have a nob to cock ur bolt back.

was kind stuck in the same situation w/ the one kit n the bolt pin....etc
well this should definitely help you hope everthing goes well
