I love my marker

I just realized i love my imagine more than any other material item in my life. It is so awsome. I take so good care of it. Oil it every time -internals, ASA, expansion chamber, and Va. Then last night we played some Outlaw ball in the woods at night it was fun but after partying i wasnt thinking clearly and set my baby down on the gravel. now she has like 5 small scratches but to me this is horrible.
The first thought that came to mind is "Now i need a new body." Then all sorts of ideas came to my head like "oh and of course a new valve, bolt, bottomline, dropforward, etc."
I don't play on a team but me and my friend would like to in the future. We arent pros but were not bad.. we can get to the 50 and we know how to call out positions and such. We go at least twice a month -many months 3- not to mention outlaw ball with some other friends who arent as into it. Ive gotten a number of people with high end guns out with my near stock imagine. Anyways i was wondering if it would be possible for me to get my spyder up to compete with high end guns. Ive seen spyders shoot 20+ bps on the internet. And thats awsome. What would you do?

tl;dr: Up the imagine or get a new marker

well, if you plan on playing on a team. Then buy a new high end marker. dont spend like $100+ uping a spyder, when you can be saving for lets say a matrix, impy, ect.

Buy a new marker and do NOT do what what JG said. By a B2k or Impy.

I dont understand what is wrong with a spyder.. if you can get it to shoot FAST and be able to keep up with many of the high end guns out there, why spend 500 bucks on a new gun when putting about 200 in ups into your e-spyder can make it a sweet gun?

consistency, reliability (this is debatable, but i've had fewere problems w/ my timmy), speed (to get a spyder comprable to other guns you have to drop quite a bit of cash), and coolness. spyders just don't stack up.

200 won't cut it buddy.

Tiger Shark bolt ($20)
50g switch ($5)

That's only 80 so far.. Now if I got a t-board and some HPA, then we would be talkin am I right?

Edit: forgot my hopper.. Halo TSA LED ($45) so $125

Spyders are a great marker for the new player. They can and do allow you to get into the sport, learn how to take care of a marker, and they do fairly well for what they are designed.

But just as a Ford Escourt is an entry level vehicle, so is a spyder an entry level marker. You certainly can upgrade the heck out of a spyder all you want. Some people have and love it. But like the escourt, there are limits on performance regardless of the upgrades.

Take what you have learned and build on that with a new marker. Automags, BKO, Autocockers, and Impulses are all great markers that will grow with you as you get better. And as you have indicated a desire to play tourney ball, getting a higher end marker will serve you better in the long run.

However, you are still out if you are tagged with paint from a spyder, or from a $1500 super upped, computer controlled, custom annoed, marker.

I know exacly how you feel, you fell in love with you spyder. Taking it apart and oiling it almost every day tweeking it a littel as well. Wanting only the best for it you convert it to low pressure with a regulater, spring kit, modding the internal stuff as needed, new bolt... I'm in the middel of that process right now, however I see no need to shoot any faster then 13bps or desire to do so. I'd buy a electropneumatic paintball gun like the bko, I'm thinking of getting a AMG Autococker (only to know how the pneumatic system works) but if you only want faster I have read up on this and found that the BKO or the BK3(I think it's called) is the cheapest electropneumatic system.

Hey, I have seen guys with tippmans own the airball field. You do not NEED a good gun to be a good player. My brother is ranked amatuer at the field we play and he has an ironman intimidator. Every so often it breaks so he uses a tippman and does just as good. Gun isnt everthing.

well for the time being.. I really have no interest in playing tourneys or anything of the like. Me and my bro just go to the local field and play rec ball and have a hell of a good time. So to me, just a plain old spyder does the trick.
