Yeah of course you can use it. But with a regular 9 volt battery you'll get quite a few less shots off it. I'm not sure how many you can get off of it but it will work for a while. It really needs a 9.6v battery but just take like 3-4 regular 9 volts batteries with you.

Kingman recomends u only use the java 9.6 battery, but regular 9 volts seem to work fine..they just have less power.

no, i dont know if u understand batteries. A 9.6 volt will send 9.6 volts to power the gun. 9.6 doesnt neccesarily mean it will last longer. So Kingman worries that if only 9 volts are going into the gun, it may not work properly.

disposable ones work fine, I use them in my friend's electra. They get about the same amount of shots. Kingman just wants you to use it cus its made by them.

While Alkaline batteries have a greater energy capacity, their internal resistance is much greater than NiMH batteries. Alkalines tend to drop voltage faster, so it becomes unuseable at only 50%-70% discharge, while the NiMH can run down to 15%-20%. Read more:

If you are forced to use a Alkaline battery, try to get a good quality version, preferable one designed to power digital cameras or the like.
