Internals polished, but whta about inside of body??

Fiki, you might wanna chime in here.

so I've polished my internals; no porblems, easily done.

now, i've noticed some burr on the inside of the body. especially right behind where the ball drops. I've also noticed some scaring on the bolt.

any fix to this??

get a delrin bolt. That will stop the scratching. And you cant really do anything about the scrathes on the inside anymore. They will always be there, but a delrin bolt will definatly stop the scrathcing

While a delrin bolt will prevent further damage, the scratches that are already there will just end up damaging the delrin bolt. I was considering getting a new bolt, but that why I asked if there’s any way to clean out the stuff that's already in there.

I know people are going to say that it's normal for Spyder's but that’s beside the point. I strongly believe that this is a mark of bad design. The 2 o-rings are situated so close together that it allows all kinds of rocking motions. Fix that, and I think alot of the scratches will go away.

I finally got pissed with the damn thing and cut another grove into the bolt and slipped another o-ring on. We’ll see if it makes a difference.

cutting the grove might work, but you might have some trouble with the o-ring coming off if you didnt cut the groove perfectly

and i had a lot of scratching on teh insie of my gun, and got a delrin bolt. My delrin bolt had no scratches on it what soever, and probobly never will. Unless your scratches are much deeper and larger

i don't know how bad your scratching is, but maybe i'll give it a shot when i get the chance.

mine's in pretty rough shape, so much so that i wipe off bits of aluminium and dark oil when i clean my marker after a game.

Even if there are no scratches on the inside of the body,do you still have to polish it?

Not necessary, but generally regarded as worthwhile.

see Otter's write-up here.

To polish the inside of the body you use a soft cloth and a metal or wheel polish. You do not sand inside the body.If you are talking about otters website it will say that as well as not to sand inside thebody. Also sanding the internals should be done with wet or dry 800 or higher grit.I use steel wool it takes longer but less chance to screw things up.

Your going to need something finer then 800. Because it needs to be very very very consistent. Just enough to get the scratches off and no more. How deep are the scratches anyway?

Get a new body. You can probably get one for around $20 at a forum like spyderea.net

800 should be fine..thats what i used on my old spyder and it did its job. Otter says 600-800 and 1000..so u should use both..start with the low, end with the high

and dont buy a new body..the scratches dont effect the guns performance much at all.
