noob questions

Is the acs system that much better where it takes a 14 bps Spyder pilot to a 20 bps gun? According to the website it is but wanted to know the REAL answer. Secondly, what would be a better Spyder to start out with? I am looking at an Imagine 04 plus adding the barrel and possilbly the acs or a different bolt?

I know should of asked in the gun comparison forum but I wanted to hear from the Spyder owners. Thanks.

don't bother getting an EE9. it's just animagine with a different paintjob and a longer bolt. I have both and (except for stock barrels) they are vitrually identical. I think I'm gonna sell my imagine cuzt cuz the E99 looks better (yes yes, dumb reasoning I know) so if you're interested. i actually got 2 imagines, but the bolts need hlep. i suppose buying a new bolt would fix it, but what fun is that?, best part of paintball is fixing things.

I would say that YES it is better, u do not have to worry about chops as much AND u get a faster gun (which is a problem w/ other electronic spyders, IMO) BUT u wont be able to get 20bps right out of the box. Spyders have a very heavy microswitch (what the trigger hits) preventing u from reaching high speeds. So if u get the ACS system make sure to order a presodered 50g microswitch. If u can soder u can do the little switch mod that can be found in the sticky.

Also if u want to be using that fast gun to its potential i'd get something better than a revvy. Maybe a halo if u have the cash, or a egg2.

So u want to know if buying a regular spyder imagine 04 and then getting the ACS bolt and a better barrel is a better deal than getting the ACS pilot. Well, if u buy the ACS bolt i dont think that you get the faster board. So um, i'd say no its not better.

Get the ACS pilot, it is faster than the imagine, i found it for right under $200, compared to the $115 i found the imagine at. The acs bolt costs $60 in derlin form by itself, a good cheap barrel is $40. that would make the imagine w/ the ups cost $215. Not a good deal.

*I know its long so in conclusion, get the ACS pilot, its a better deal than ur upped imagine.*

This was so damn annoying looking up, i must of sat here for like 20min total thinking this all over and rescearching.

Well I do not want to rain on anyones parade but without changing the board you will not get over 14bps even with a lighter switch. Most of the time if the hopper can feed fast enough to gun should not chop.I have seen guys with mega buck guns chop even. That was kind of funny and made me kiss my rodeo. It is too bad there is not a chip we could buy and solder onto the stock spyder board to get better speed.

Yeah, i mentioned that. SPyshark is right, w/ that gay heavy 250mg switch that spyders come w/ u wont be breaking the cap. I know mine really slows me down to like 10bps, when my fingers could pull like 16 (i know board is capped).

Good point about chopping. Even w/ that bolt u might get "barrel break" where the ball breaks in the barrel b/c it hit the side to hard/whatever. That will happen w/ any gun though even dm4s/shockers/angels so dont worry if u encounter that.

Spyshark, havn't u heard of the Hair trigger? Its kinda a tippmann rt for all mechs. Makes u able to walk w/ a mech. Very interesting but pricy at like $200 or so i think.
