Since it would take a small amount of gas at a high pressure to move a spyders internals it only makes sence for a large amount of gas at a low pressure to do the same.
Advantages of going LP:
Quieter
Less wear and tear
Sounds alot better
Consistent
Less chops

Advateges of HP
Efficent

a low pressure setup does not make the gun a "gas hog." i can't really prove that it makes it more efficient either. but they both use the same amount of gas from the tank. in high pressure setups, only a small VOLUME of gas is used, but it is under high pressure. the small volume is under high pressure so it expands rapidly into a huge volume when it leaves the gun. in a low pressure setup, more gas is used but at a lower pressure, so the large volume will only expand about half as much. in the end you have exactly the same amount of gas coming out of the gun. it is a trade off of volume for pressure. more pressure means more volume when it enters the atmosphere. you could say running a low pressure gun is like turning the whole gun into a giant expansion chamber by allowing the gas to decompress before it hits the ball. your gun will not be a gas hog when you change it to low pressure because it is trading volume for pressure and should use the same amount of gas. i think low pressure setups should be more efficient because the gas that hits the ball doesnt have to expand rapidly to propel the ball. high pressure setups may lose efficiency because the much higher pressure makes the gas sort of "explode" in an effort to equalize with atmospheric pressure, and it will find any escape route it can out of the gun, whereas lower pressure gas will be more directed at the paintball. don't quote me on any of this because i am by no means an airsmith... but i think it makes sense.
