~Heres how it happened.

-Cobra, the head admin here, got his account hacked. Someone used a
brute forcer(a program that guesses passwords) to get his password. They
de-admined all the admins, and changed cobras e-mail and password.

~Heres how it was fixed

-I found Cobras phone number and called him. I spoke with him about the
situation, he was unaware of this due to his absense here. He got on
and couldn't do anything because his password was changed. We talked for
a good long time before finally coming up with ideas. None worked. He
then told me to mess with the Website Control Panel because he was
tired. He gave me the Website Control Panel head password. I fooled with it
until finally finding how to change Cobras password through the website
control panel. I figured it out. I changed it, got in there, and
changed his e-mail and we were safe. Now here we are.

~NUMBER ONE!! WERE ARE YOU??

-If you noticed, when you type the number one in, you see a white box
with a red x. This is because the hacker made it so the number one
doesn't exist here. He was ingenious by doing so. This prevented us from
doing a simple rollback that required us to type in a script with the
number one. When we did this is didn't work because one doesn't excist.

~What is this annoying popup?!

-The popup is an attempt from the hacker to get cobras webhosting
password. When you logon to the website control panel, you get this prompt.
He thought he could fool cobra. If he would have gotten it, the forum
would be gone. He could have deleted all backups and the site. Thank god
he didn't get it! We will get rid of this popup asap!

~What should I do to help?

-CHANGE YOUR PASSWORD!!! Especially change it if you entered it in the
box. That will the staff alot of time!
-Be Patient! Everything will be fixed in a few days!
-Follow Doomsdays rule!

~Cobra(mark) and I will be filling out a FBI report tomorrow. These
hackers are busted!

-We HAVE to leave pbf in its current state, with all the forums gone...
We can recover them easily, but for the FBI, we MUST leave them alone.

!!You ARE aloud to post in the lounge like you would anywere else! Just
no Buy/Sell/Trade!!

P.S.

If any of you wondered why I am an admin, it is simply because of my
acts today. I am now working with cobra to prevent this from every
happening again. I will be handling all errors and problems in the system. I
will also be helping out around here as much as I can. Sorry if this
does not apeal to all of you.

ya, i only know what VERY well known and "old" member's tell me... and there's not alot of love for alot of people here and people that are gone...

My God, those were like the worst times I've ever had here. It was back when Joe was a mod, so I got up in the morning and I cruised over to PBF. It was like OHNOESESESESES WE HAEV BEEN HAZOREDQ!@! Actually, not like that at all, but there was a screen that said something about being hcked. I IM'd Joe, and I think we were the first two to know about it

ahhh i hate using computers in germany... like all the letters are all changed around, its a pain in the ass to type

I know what you mean. Most of the letters are in the same place exept that z and y are switched around, and all the SHIFT key combinations are different.

Yeah it's kind of the same with computers in France (all of europe...) just a few keys are switched but that is enough to really annoy you when you are typing.
