Alot of government systems "work" communism can as well, but usually its more viable in smaller more nationalistic countries. The larger the population and the more the bureaucracy weighs the system down and becomes more ineffecient.

Job Efficiency and System overall becomes a large issue with large top heavy governments. The old saying the sum is only as strong as its weakest link comes into play here. On a smaller scale people have more incentive to work efficiently since they stand out more, its just to easy to get lost in the system in a larger government.

Never saw much of a use to study communism/socialism without being generally interested and knowing what you are talking about.
