2 problems, the gfx card and memory.
you get 1 gig of memory BUT it's only 2700 speed. I would recommend getting something like 512-1 gig of 3200 ram.
Also, the gfx card isn't one of the top models. It's more like regular run of the mill stuff. So you might think about getting a better one of those.
100 gig hard drive is very nice. Also, the 4 usb 2.0 ports are nice considering they're faster than firewire.

USB 2.0 is RATED faster than firewire, but in actuality, firewire transfers faster and more consistantly.

A nice Dell would be good, Dell or Compaq would be my choice. I thought that alienware's 2gb ram was excellent....Until my dad said "That all, I got 4 gb on my Dell.

well it was more than 2. Plus If I'm not mistaken you can upgrade ram. Hell, I'm not gonna waste my time arguing. At the same time, I'm not sure the brand of laptop, and all this. I'm pretty sure that's what he said. My Dad is one of those arrogant people who thinks that the more expensive it is, the better it is.

Well that's just what he said, and I'm not gonna argue. And Xball, I barely even use 512 so I actually agree with you.
For hunting he has a weatherbeau*sp* 3378 *fuggin elephant gun

Waited a longtime after dvd players came out and bought the most expensive set up....
Yeah, I'll admit, sometimes my dad can be a moron, but at 21+ an hour including extreme overtime, He earns the money for his ass to blow on stupid ****.

No, he didn't have problems keeping food on the table. And no, not white trash. My dad works on the navy base as an airplane mechanic for T-45's, Step dad works as an A.M.E. *something to do with ejection seats* for the T-45 and my mom has had numorous jobs throughout the navy base, now a computer secretary.
So no, were not white trash.
but about the no dell w/ 4gb things...

Dells are overpriced, and overrated IMO. Then again, I dont like the Pentium line for a reason. Also, everyone I know that owns a Dell has had some problem ranging from minor, to devastating.

^ my dell desktop i had for about 2 weeks, and then it start freaking out. I called a tech and it turns out that it had some weird hard drive issue where the data started to eat itself... it was weird, and needless to say i had to buy a new computer cause the CPU was trashed as well
and prophet your right, Even the new Dell XPS gen 2 laptop can only hold a maximum of 2gb or RAM i have a magzine right in front of me with the specs, and upgrade options for all their new computers.

I dunno, I have an old Compaq from like 98. That thing is a friggin tank. It survived me throwin it across the room (all plugged in and powered up), kicking it multiple, multiple times with steeal toed boots, and about 3 years of steady camel/mt dew residue.
Never had any major issues that werent caused by my insatible lust to TRY to break the thing. Ive riped the thing apart and threw it back together so many times for experiments it wasnt even funny. I dunno, but Compaq used to be pretty damn decent in my book.
Maybe they have changed, but I still have the same tower and it runs great. Gave it to my fiance when I got a new PC from someone.
-shrug- Maybe I jsut got the lucky one.

Compaqs/HP :: Computers
98 Custom :: Paintball
If it means anything to the debate, I have a compaq laptop, and its been completely problem free for 8 months.
