because he doesn't hate the USA he just doesn't think 9/11 was a part of his life, and chances are 9/11 did not affect him in any way.

..and he didn't respond to us disagreeing with him with more flameage...

Hey, guys. Well, it's the 12th now, and since WGPChampMAstA has brought this thread to my attention, I figured I'd post on it.

First off, we had a pretty cool ceremony for us yesterday. The whole school gathered in the Courtyard as the Pledge was recited, and then the NJROTC's Honor Guard came out and did some drill. Next, the choir sang the Star Spangled Banner (it was so amazing... I could never sing like that), followed by a girl's rendition of Taps on the trumpet. It was sad, especially since I had been in New York - a few miles away - as the WTC fell. I dealt with so many of my friends and even people I didn't know that were crying their eyes out, seeking comfort. It was just so unimaginable... I still have the image burned into my head of my pal John, whom I had previously never seen cry before, standing shocked, mouth agape, with tears flowing from each of his eyes. So this ceremony really meant something to me.

Now here's where I really want you guys to hear me out. Since I'm used to calling him tippmann champ, I'll call WGPChampMAstA that. Please try not to be so hard on the guy. He's really a cool dude when you get to know him, and what's cool about him is that he always has his own opinion and he's not ashamed or even slightly scared to speak his mind. Now, in some ways that can be bad, but I find myself looking up to both AradJohn and tippmann champ with a great deal of respect for just that. Though you may not agree with tipp, please try not to flame him. Just try to be cool about it and politely dissent. If you do, and if you talk to him a lot, I'm sure you'll begin to like him and understand him a lot more.

I know how you feel, team_anonymous...I lost two of my cousins in the attack. Joseph Allen was 39, a Bond Broker for Cantor Fitzgerald died when the towers collapsed because he was higher than the impact zone. Then my other cousin was a firefighter, Richard Allen for Ladder 21 was 31 and was going up the South Tower and didn't hear the call to evacuate. They say he was about 5 floors below the crash zone and they never found his remains, or his brother's. It just ticks me off the fake patriotism this country has. Never before 9/11 did I see any flags flying on cars or outside houses (only on public buildings). Now they're all over the place. Sure they might have been affected, but that's practically dissing the people that really were affected. Don't get me wrong- I find it uplifting and wonderful that a lot more people have a real sense of pride and love for our country, but some people do it just because they want to join the bandwagon. I had numerous kids during the school day yesterday come up to me and tell me that I was showing fake patriotism. I was absolutely pissed off. I didn't cuss at him (because it makes me look worse than the other guy), but I literally gave that kid a tongue-lashing. I absolutely went off on the guy for dissing me while I wore my cousin's FDNY shirt that he had left at his house that day. I felt proud wearing it but people that don't know the facts and judge people are what make me furious. I wear it and I know that my cousin was a true hero, a person with a strong sense of duty who was selfless, not giving a moment to the thought of his own life. But those people yesterday...if they would've said anything else degrading about it I would've certainly gone off physically on the kid!

But then again-

We were eligible for money from the Twin Towers Fund but we refused it (because we don't need it). But this lady (her name escapes me right now...) is fighting Silverstein because she wants the entire 16 acres to become a park. She says "I lost my husband so I want to be able to sit in the grass and have some time with him". I was so pissed. To that I say- deal with it. Sure, he might have been your spouse but he's GONE. Period. Laying in a park day after day, wasting your precious time is NOT going to bring him back. Rebuilding and making a memorial would be more appropriate because it proves that A) you cannot defeat America B) we remember the victims and C) America will never fall and we will rebuild and show the world that nobody messes with us. I say rebuild the Twin Towers and bring New York to what it once was...the victims would want us to rise again and not stop our lives because of what happened. They would want us to pick ourselves up and become stronger.

That's my rant...sorry about it being so long, but it just vented a lot of stuff that I've been bottling up for a long time. Sorry about all that

And quit arguing...this thread is NOT the place, and I don't want to see it at all. Everyone has different views on the subject, including me. So please, quit it. By dissing each other in hear it takes away from whatever meaning this thread once had. I'm not kidding...I read it and felt good in the beginning. Then just now I feel like this thread just turned into a flame pit. Please, if you have to flame each other, go to my site's phorum and click on "Pit of Hate". Do it there if you must...just not here. You have no idea the effect your words have on others. So at least be considerate and be the better person by quitting. Thanks.

People got mad at me for not wearing enough patriotic stuff yesterday. I think what they really need is to rebuild new towers or something and start all over. Rather than having that big fountain thing like they used to they should put a memorial there.

Well why dont you have pride in america champ? If you were in a different country you wouldnt be paintballing you wouldnt have money like you do to have that gun of yours!!! I think that you should think about what you say before you say it cause thousands of people were murdered for no reason and they werent soldiers like me who would die for my country but they were civilians that have nothing to do with them! Your the kind of people taht makes me want to shoot my own countryman!! people like you dont deserve to live the "AMERICAN LIFE" you need to move to afghanistan and let american soldiers shoot you in your ass!! GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How uncalled for that was, buddy. If you want to voice an opinion, by all means, do it. But hey, as Inferno said... "It's people like you that make me want to shoot my own countryman." It really gets on my nerves that people can still be such jerks to each other even in the midst of all this. Now, as for you telling me I am worse than he is, you are intirely incorrect. I love this country as much as the next man and maybe even more. I always know what is going on in politics and daily life, so don't give me that crap. What I was saying was that I have respect for tippy for being able to voice his opinion even though he KNEW he would be bashed for it. Don't you find a median of respect for him in that manner? Although I am in no way collaborating his views, I AM, however, trying to help you all become better people by helping you be more tolerant. A lack of tolerance is what tore this apart in the first place, and yet a surplus of it repatched us.

In any case, I am a significant patriot, so please don't give me this bullcrap about me being a person that doesn't care; because I DO care. I was there. You probably weren't. Think about it.

Wow, I missed a lot in the passed few days. Okay, so to start off, I'll take it back to subject. At my school we had a huge service out in the football stadium. There were 2000 spectators, up to three news stations, the high school marching band (which I'm in), the fire department (who did that bell ringing thing), the police ( who performed a 21 gun salute), thre speeches, and a fighter jet fly-over. Oh, did I mention we were broadcast live?

So anyway, on to this whole other thing...

Yes, I do feel sorry for all those people who died, and their families. I feel bad for everyone there, and everyone like Duo who lost someone there. Death is a horrible thing, especially upon non-combatants. BUT, in all honesty, America had it coming. I know what you're going to say, but I know I'm right, and anyone who doesn't believe me needs to retake (or take) their high school history classes, and then use something called inference. And to be clear, yes, I love my country. I love my right to sit here and do this, and I love the solid determination of its people. But I absolutely hate my government. I hate the poor leadership, the deception, and the utter hypocrisy and foolishness of a generation of the elderly whose time has long since passed. It was once said that a true patriot must be prepared to defend his country from his government. And no, I'm not pushing for a bloody coup, but rather I would prefer a drastic cultural and social revolution. However, since many people simply refuse to see the truth in anything different, this will not happen. So flame me, or call me un-American, or condemn me to hell or Cuba, for all I care, because we still deserved 9/11. There is a difference between murder and war, and once more, we fail to see it. You cannot speak of freedom when you so eagerly trade it away to blindly follow those who do not understand the workings of everyday life. In a recent poll, it was found that an increasing number of people favor the suspension of the first ammendment in times of war. Which simply means, that a month from now, this post will be deleted, and a group of men in black suits will come knocking on my door. So yes, I love my country, and it kills me everyday to see such incredible potential squandered on fashion, a false sense of patriotism, and an increasing trend to simply not think. This rant draws so many offshoots which would result in numerous rants of their own; war, Iraq, fiscal policy; but these are subjects for elsewhere. So that is why I refuse to say the pledge of allegiance, and that is why, should one of you volunteer the money, I would gladly move to Switzerland and leave my woe far behind.
