First off, hello guys.....you might remember me from such years as 2002, 2003, and the fabulous return in 2004...

Ok, if I open Microsoft Office Word 2003 I can't type anything on a blank document. The only thing I can do is open my existing documents but they can't be modified, copy and pasted, or anything. When I try to do anything, I see "This modification is not allowed because the document is locked."

So my question is, how the fetch do I unlock documents? Everyone of my doc's is locked, new and old. I've tried everything, even uninstalling the program and reinstalling it, but nothing seems to work.

Hey you're back.

I'm on my mac right now... but try right clicking a document, go to its preferences and check through the tabs to see if there are any buttons that have locked or writable checked off.

there isn't any tabs or buttons like that. The Attributes are the only things that I see (ex. Read-only, Hidden, and Archive) and Archive is the only one that is checked. When I uncheck Archive, it still is locked.

Besides, a BLANK document is locked for me. I can type anything but look at a blank white page.

Hey, welcome back, haven't seen you around for a while. Just wanted to say search this on google. Not trying to be a dick, but honestly I've found a lot of answers to problems like this through google. Other than that, I have no idea.

Problem solved, all thanks to Zedaine! I just needed to activate the software because its on so many of my comps.

We've solved the problem, he hasn't activated the product yet, thus causing problems with his program.

You should go and download Open Office http://openoffice.org you wont have to deal with microsoft and it's completely compatible with all word documents.
