So before about a month ago, I had only seen one praying mantis my whole life. That was when I was about 13 and a friend found it. Within the past month, however, I have seen 3! It's weird.

Today, during my lunch break at work, I was just sitting on a bench staring at a brick wall. I notcied a green blob on it, and went to inspect - sure enough! It was a praying mantis. I had my digi cam with me (low battery though), so I snapped a few pics. The focus sucks because I think it was too close, but I didn't have time to get it right (camera dying + mantis flying away).

yeah they can fly.

those things are so awesome. when i was little i thought they would attack me if i tried to put them on my hand. their little spines on their legs look like they'd hurt

and 56k isnt THAT bad, stop putting that in every thread with only a couple of low-res pics

My neighbor found one when we were walking home from the bus one day. She tried to bring it home, but somehow accidentally killed it.

the one that is in your hand and looking into the camera looks so awesome...if only it was focused it'd be better....its like you were focused on him, but then he lunged at you right as you took the picture..

they are pretty cool, I havent seen one yet this year I dont think. I havent seen a stick bug in even longer. Those are wicked.

that centipede was disgusting.

and that spider.. gah! imagine seeing that in your house. how do you kill it? I mean.. it'd take one hell of a tissue to get that bastard.. And stepping on it would be like stepping on a rat. I think youd just have to empty a room and let it move in..

Have you guys ever noticed how they like to fly up onto the back of peoples shoulder and just hitch a ride for a while without them noticing? I laugh my ass off every time I see some guy or kid walking along not knowing whats right behind his head lol.

actually, i havent seen one in a LOOOOOONG time, but in the past few weeks i have seen a **** load. thats pretty crazy. they are cool ass insects, very interesting to watch

Last week there was a couple of them that kept appearing on boxes at work, so being the awesome people we are, we would capture them and put them somewhere that wouldn't get them smashed. Or maybe it was the same one, and he really wanted to be shipped to another part of PA.

I didn't produce any cool pictures though, so you clearly win.
