ok, so i just got a wireless NIC card for my laptop(old one, armada 7300 from 1997, compaq makes it) and it appears to be working. however, when i took it in a free wireless zone in my town it tried to connect, but just wouldnt quite do it. it was recieving service, but whenever i tried to pull up explorer it would just say "detecting proxy settings" in the bottem left hand corner where it usually would say "done" and stuff. it never fails, it just doesnt quite go to the site. now, i've been told i need to reconfigure the wireless setup, but i dont really know how to do that to get it to work. help much? please?

what kind of signal does this card recieve? the router may be too new for it

it could be that on the network u have at home it is shared but not at a hotspot so just check that
