So I went to update my computer and I got this screen:



I have an illegal copy of XP Pro (Just like most people that build there own computer) and I was wondering if anyone with an illegal copy has ever validated their copy of windows and got away with it?

I just don't want it to be like "You have an illegal copy of windows; I will now shun you from ever getting updates again, ect".

They take no personal info from you. And they still allow you to get security updates anyway, so it doesnt really matter.

I built my own and have a legal version of XP, although it is only becuase I wanted to get my comptuer running, and not wait on my cousin to get a free version

i got a copy of xp professional from a friend who travels the world for his work. it was only $1 because it came from china
