so i got verizon for my cell phone finnally its a nice phone too but i have a question does it cost money if someone instant messanges me. like i have aol instant measanger on my phone and whenever i get on aim they all go to my phone too. so does it cost anything? thanks

yeah i think it costs like 5cents a minute? call verizon and make sure. i have verizon too but no aim

when I had sprint i got unlimited internet so i could use AIM and yahoo all I wanted and not get charged for using text messages

Where I live I got Revol (www.revol.us) Unlimited calling, local or longdistance, text, picture mail, internet, everything unlimited. BUT theirs a limited calling area something like wont work outta the state, but still thats a damn good deal($47 a month). Besides, I have a old Cingular phone for when I go outta state bc I talk too much for the ****ty low family plans.

EDIT: and the phone i have doesnt have aim but it has yahoo which is also free.
You could always do that new aim mobile thing, where it texts u instead or something like that.

It doesnt cost money to be on AIM, but everytime you recieve or send an IM (text message) they charge you the price of a text message. I think you can get a text and picture message bundle for like 4.99$ a month for unlimited of each serivce....but that could be only with my plan.

Ya they cost money receaving and sending. Normally around 5 cents a text so I recommend doing the highest amount and buying 500 for 7$. Silly verizon only has unlimited if you msg another verizon used.

Sorry for the double post but I'm lazy.

You can download AIM on the download servise on your phone (verizon's is Get it Now, Tmobile= Tzones) but when you download it, it's not called AIM it's mobile IM then it has Yahoo, MSN, and AIM

Most of my friends either have cingular and verizon. I know one person with tmobile and he hates it.

I have a nextell. It's a brick; I can play hackey sack with my phone and it is unharmed. The thing is a big black flip phone with a screen that looks like it came out of an atari video game.
My service is free after 9 pm on weekdays and free all day/night on weekends so I can't complain... but it costs me a dollar to recieve text messages and I can't send them at all. Bummer. I also have no games at all. lol
if you want a phone just for function and no gimmicks, nextels are cool.
BUT:
my brother ha sthe same phone/plan as me ((family plan)) and his phone suddenely stopped being able to recieve or send calls. After 4 weeksm nextel sent him a new phone... which started doing the same thing 3 days later. Weird.

I just got my Verizon phone last weekend. The newest Samsung.

Got V-cast and all that ****

and AIM is charged like text. and it will continue to charge for incomming unless u sign out
