The test wasn't that hard. Basic math, basic english, basic computers/electronics, and basic mechanical stuff....I'm a pretty well-versed person, so it was really easy for me.
As for the basic training...I'm 6'0" and 230lbs (I don't look it). How much weight do you think I'd lose if I joined......

you would atleast lose 20. You would of course lose more fat than 20 lbs, but you would gain alot of muscle also, which weighs more than fat. So you would only lose say 20-30 but you would look like youve lost alot more.
I have actually lost 20 lb's in 2 1/2 weeks. Its amazing what only drinking water will do for you.

Calm down, I don't think that's what he meant. If you think about it though, a lot of kids that didn't do well in high school don't feel like going to college, so they enlist. So of course not everyone is a moron, but the military DOES have quite a few.

the only written test I took was the pre-asvab which is like SAT or scantron fill in the bubble style, that test was a joke, and I scored a 100 on it. The real asvab has questions from several different fields, the test should have a section where you have to de-code alpha/numeral encryptions as quickly as possible, general mechanical questions applying to internal combustion engines, electronics questions about serial and parallel circuits, alot of diagrams, and a couple of speed tests to see how fast you think. a few other areas are covered also.

that is the test I did. I actually liked the decoding part of the test, it was fun. The mechanical thing got me a bit because I don't know too much about cars and the likes but I still did better then most of the people that ended up taking the test and like I mentioned earlier I only took it so I could get out of class.

what type of college, community or universities?
I think a lot of people are on their own for the first time and don't know how to be responsible and that leads to a lot of stupidity on the college level.

what was your 97%? the test goes more off of your GT or general technical scores. I placed pretty high on the asvab the main thing it is good for is securing your mos and a bonus. if you think you have scored well on your testing and are physically fit you should be maxing then bonus and college ammounts. the armed forces need you. They offered me all kinds of jobs but I wanted to be infantry. One you might wanna look into is combat engineer or 21B they have one of the fastest tracks on to special forces if you are physically fit. Im planning on cross training into it when my first term is up.
Make sure when you actually go to the MEPS station if you do that is you are well rested and try on the test. when you take it there it is for real and its a bit tougher and if you do poorly you have to wait like a few months or something to retake.

No, I'd say that college has it's share of morons too. But those morons aren't forced to kill people and don't have to waste their lives for America's corporate interests. On second thought, ya they do. On third thought.. whatever ya know.

How is it that an Army of soldiers who volunteered for duty can be forced into something they willingly signed up for? That doesn't make sense.
It's not like the government is demanding that you serve the military when you reach a certain age. The Army is made up of volunteers, people who willingly sign up to do what the Army tells them. So how exactly are they being forced?
America's corporate interests? I guess this is where the denouncing the capitalist pigs of America comes in. If this is the beginning of an anti capitalist, anit West rant, and a "hail communism" speach, let me say this:
As far as "corporate interests" and "capitlists agendas" go, Soviet Russia was no saint either.
Remember Chechnya? Chechnya still isn't allowed to be independant, even though the countries around it have been let go or by the Great Bear.
When the USSR was still around, Chechnya, Georgia, and those surrounding countries were controlled. This allowed the USSR (CCCP) to control the trade route that Turkish oil from the Black Sea had to go through to get to the Mediterranian (sp?). Monopolizing this trade route, the Red Bear made quite a pretty penny.
Chechnya wanted to be let go of, to be free. They rebelled. There were several wars.
In the first few Chechan(sp?) wars, the death count was about 10 Russians for every Chechyan.
And why were these wars fought? To keep a monopoly going. Sounds pretty corporate and capitalist to me.

I got a 97 on mine too. I joined the navy and became a nuclear reactor operator. Now Im a civilian. IF YOU CAN AFFORD COLLEGE GOTO COLLEGE. I hated the 8 years I spent in the military. Whatever the recruiter tells you, feel free to double check with me and I can give you the other half of the truth that he will miraculously forget to tell you.
