ASVAB result...
I took the ASVAB test about a month ago. I just got call from the Army Reserve Recruiter about 5 minutes ago. He wants to set up a meeting with me to talk about "what they can do for me". It turns out that I got a 97% on the ASVAB, whereas the "average" person gets a 27%. I exceed in ALL areas of the test. This guy couldn't wait to get me signed up. He's coming to my house to talk about it because my parents want to be there too. They have no problem with me shooting a gun, but they don't want me being shot at. He comes Friday @ 8:00 PM. The only thing that confuses me is that he got the test results before I did, I didn't even know they had graded them yet. I'll post my results when I get them. Wish me luck............

I got a 67% on my ASVAB, the only reason why I did it was to get out of class too
I remember getting calls from every field in the military as well. The army about got me to sign but you have to remember to take everything a recruiter says with a grain of salt and if they promise you anything to get it in writing. I talked it over with my grandfather who was in the military and decided it wasn't for me.
If you want to sign up go ahead and have a great time. Just remember any promises not on paper won't be happening.

By the way, that's why my parents wanted to be with me when I talked to him. I'm pretty sure they blow a lot of stuff out of proportion....

yeah that is a good idea. They like to blow smoke up your a$$ and promise all these things that you will be able to do. I personally have a problem with that but they do help with college....if your honorably discharged as well as other things they don't mention.....oh and VA benifits are worthless and I know I work for the damn place.

30 lbs is nothing. You will lose that in your first week or two of boot camp. They have it set up to where if you need to lose weight you will lose it and if you need to gain weight you will gain it.

I scored 99% overall, with my lowest individual being 97%. And that was like 3 years ago. Beat that.

my 8th grade social studies teacher was unemployed and basically did nothing with his life after college. so in the 80's he said he got fed up with it and decided to join the army.. so he joined, and he said his motive for joining was to eat food. so he said eventually he left, used the money to go to grad school, and said he was playing sega one day and realized his life was worthless and decided to become a teacher... he was a really weird guy too... he kept a soviet flag in his drawer, marxist and communist books EVERYwhere in the room, and constantly compared the US gov't to the gov'tin 1984...

What's with all the "going to the military" threads lately. I swear, in the last week I've seen this kind of thing in three or more threads.

That test wasnt very difficult tho. Im pretty much a dumbass and still scored an 88. The recruiters kept calling me too, but I never went.

you take on a computer in the MEPS station - I scored a 89% when I was 17 and then I signed up as soon as I turned 18.... eh you won't lose 30lbs in the first week or two, you'll definately lose that 30lbs by the time basic is over though, alot of the fat guys lose 40-50lbs - they hadn't seen their chin for the last 10 years probably lol. if you score over 60 - the recruiters love you

a 97%! With a test score like that you should say **** you military and go to college. With a college degree you'll be able to leave the military to the people who are too poor or too dumb. =D

The military isnt full of morons and poor people. Most people who score high on asvab and choose a good MOS will make more money then somone that goes to college.
