Me:1 Feminist sub-Teacher:0
Jon: Meg, I own you
Meg:
Substitute: Hey thats sexist! You can't say that. (walks towards the front of class, passes me[Sam])
Sam: How is that sexist?
Sub: He's trying to say that she's his property, he can't say that
Sam: Actually, according to the first amendment he can say whatever he wants.
Sub: He can't say that- what he said was sexist..
Sam: Are you a fascist?
Sub: Whats your name.. why would you think I'm a fascist (by now I've come to learn that this is one of those retarded teachers, that even when you prove they're wrong, they wont accept it)
Sam: Sam... How is saying that you own someone being sexist? By law, we have the freedom to say anything [and I know some local laws prohibit profanity in public], and think about anything. Its only sexism if you do something. So I guess if you think that by saying you own someone is sexism, then you must be a fascist, since your claiming he doesn't have the right to free speech.
[/Long story short]
This lady was about 4'5", long jet black hair, and wore giant boots.

well he can say whatever he wants, but if he meant she was his property that is sexist lol, because he is essentially taking away her value as a person. but wtf, whenever i say "i own you *****" i don't mean you are my property. I mean i will kick your ass, i am better than you or > you etc etc. so yeah tell her to stfu, and explain the slang use of ownage.

One remark I have found useful to "you can't say that, that is sexist." is this:
And not being allowed to say something simply because I am a man isn't?

actually, that could be considered sexual harassment especially since the sub was offended by it. and your first amendment rights are modified in a school situation, so she's still wrong anyway by saying you're allowed to say whatever you want.

It wasn't directed towards the substitute. There was no sexually explicit or unwanted advance towards the sub, so sexual harrasment goes out the window.

It doesnt have to be directed towards a person to be sexual harrasement. All you have to do is say something someone can here that they dont like that is sexual, or a body language, or many other things. Just b/c it wasnt at her doesnt mean she can't say it wasnt. She is a female.... it was towards a female by law she can say she was sexually harrased by being present. In the store I work the biggest fear of lawsuit or anything is always a case like that. Unfortunatley the law is so broad and vague on the subject that for example...... I tell a big "breasted citizen Joke" who is a "detour off the information highway" ( thanks PBNewbie69) to an associate and a female customer hears it, or female employee. I can be charged with sexual harrasment under the law. Never think that just b/c it is directed towards someone else the offense the wrong person takes can not be prosecuted...........

No, thats where your wrong. The school has no power over me, especially the teachers.
First off, the first amendment. I dont care what you say, I am a citizen of the united states. I may be a minor, but I'm still a citizen, and I still have rights.
Secondly, I did not sign away any of my rights by signing the school handbook (I know a lot of different schools may have different names for it. The handbook is where you sign to agree to the rules in it). I refused to, and nobody ever said anything about it, so if they try to bring that up, its null.
The school has no power, or right whatsoever to restrict my rights. Again, I may be a minor, but I'm still covered under rights.
Likewise, my teacher took my ipod from me today. Actually, I'm not going to say she took it. I'm going to say we mutually agreed for me to let her hang onto it until after class. I went to shut it off because it was on in my pocket and I could hear it. IT was dark becuase we were watching a movie, so when I held down the play button, the backlight turned on, causing a slight distraction. I apologised and she told me to give it to her. I said I was just turning it off and I'd put it away asap, but she wanted it. long story short, i gave it to her and got it when the movie ended.
If she had made me wait until after school or any other time, all hell would have broken loose. God FORBID she damaged it in any way, becuase I'd definelty push for her to make a settlement, or I'd sue.
Does the school have the right to take away my property? Again, I never signed for it, and they have no right to strip me of mine.
I understand the rules are there for our safety and becuase some kids are little pricks. I try my best to be polite to all of my teachers, and I even enjoy most of their classes. I enjoy school.
What's the problem with me listening to my ipod at lunch, or between classes-my free time? I'm not learning. I'm not distracting from anyone. If thats the case, then we should have silent lunches. Just because theres something in my ear means I'm taking away from people's schooling?
School society... I have many gripes with it. Is this really the best way to build better citizens for the future? I know its cliche, but school is like a prison.
So what if I wear a hat indoors? Girls can wear bandannas? I've seen teachers wear girl hats and scallie caps. How is it disrespectful?
I do believe that if kids are treated with respect from a young age, and given some rights, they wont be such assholes.
For example:
Take a kid whos been around guns his entire life, and whos parents took the time to respect that he wants to or likes guns, and teaches him safety.
Then a kid whos only seen guns in movies.
Put them each in a room with a gun each on a table, and see what happens.
If you take away the forbidden fruit, teach kids about it, show them why it can be bad, and why they should or shouldn't do something, its much better then saying "do as I say or else"

Saying and actually buying/selling someone is completely different. I was pointing ou the fact that he can say whatever the hell he wants. It might not be morally, ethically, or situationally(is that a word?) correct, but he can say it.

all I got to say IS thank god I am not in school anymore b/c I would go ballistic with the new rules and regs that the world has forced upon them to create. In my day we had a prob or someone had a prob with us we went out, fought and the winner won, then we sat on a tailgate together and drank a beer..... No cops or continuouse flaming, if you did your ass got beat by more, I dont understand how the world has gotten the way it has but it sucks. In high a guy tried to trash can me it failed, another guy tried then to throw the can over my head, I hit him and some old half eaten donuts fell on him with alot of stuff I won't say. But anyway nothing happened we went to class and nothing ever happened beyond that. It sickens me hat everyone is out to get so bad that you can't live it is bull like this that hasmade the world he way it is.
In respect to Alpha it was wrong and it sucks. I hate the US we live in today, ya'll live with less freedoms thatn I did and I live with less than my parents and so forth. My grandfather was in the horseback border patrol. should here some of the stories he told about prisoners, renegades and such, but you know what......... It is because socialist ass's who came up in this world pussies. Bush may not be the best pres but a hell of alot better than the socialist clinto, draft running ass. Alot of choices are out there, gun rights and such. I hope everyone realizes it will not stop there till everything is gone and we are socialistic/communist as well.

it doesnt matter who the statement was directed to, or if the person it was said even cared. if someone is offended by something you say, especially in a school scenario which is the equivalent of a workplace, it is legally considered sexual harassment.

your first amendment right is in fact restrcited.. you cant walk around saying things just because you have the right. you cant say whatever you feel like, and im not wrong.... it is restricted...

im not so sure, youre not allowed to sign anything without a parental signature so if you didnt sign it, they can still hold it against you.

the school is a workplace, and they can restrict and modify your amendments especially since school involves many students that have the right to attend the shcool as well.

the school can hold you in their facility as long as school hours are going on, after that they committed false imprisonment and then you can theoretically sue. and im not positive who would be responsible for the ipod, because if the shcool says you shouldnt have it, and you do, its not their responsibility.
Does the school have the right to take away my property? Again, I never signed for it, and they have no right to strip me of mine.
