I've been there and walked around, it's really cool. But to sell it on ebay, awesome.

No one who knows anything about real-estate would buy it. You can't do anything with it, other than fix it up, since it is a historical landmark. If you do fix it chances are you'll loose more on it than you'll make. The only person/people who would buy it would have to have an interest in Fort Montgomery, otherwise it's a money pit.
We just built a building for 1 million that will pay for itself in 5 years and will make $200,000 profit every year after. You couldn't touch that kinda return with a historical landmark.

i was reading supposedly this 'real estate boom' is going to be over. we've been learning about economics and real estate is a real money-making practice, i never really understood it until recently, but now i understand why people invest so much into real estate

The housing market is going to fall out soon, as soon as interest rates go up house prices will fall. Right now money (loans) is cheap, so therefore plenty of people are out buying houses, cars, and other big money items. We only deal in commercial properties. They are cheaper to build and you make money off the rent that you are pretty much guaranteed since they are on contract. Plus usually you can turn around and sell the building for more than it cost you to build it. My grandfather paid 1 million for a building complex back in the 70's, and the same complex now is worth 12 million. It's a good way to make money, but it takes some know-how and a little luck.
