that's awesome, but i don't really see any advantages it has over any normal handgun. very effective armor piercing, maybe?

well its a rail gun. make it so that it can launch multiple projectilles one after another without a magazine feed. Can be close on silent. get a better energy source that can fire at huge speeds with consistancy without taking up to much power. So think about it. something that can have a large ammount of ammo in a smaller space without need for powder.

my jaw literally dropped. that's the most amazing thing i've ever seen. But i have one question. is it loaded fromt eh rear or what? everything we saw was a single shot.

its just magnets, nothing special. its actually a very, very simple concept. the problem is getting a powersource for it. they have huge ass rail guns that work perfectly fine, but they massive due to the powersource. something like that would be extremely useful as an anti-aircraft weapon due to the rediculous amount of metal it can potentially put into the air. also, it would be a super effective anti tank/armor weapon. i know the big cannon they are developing is suposedly going to be fitted onto tanks. its really nice because there potentially can be zero recoil if the enregy is routed correctly. basically there will eventually be a rail gun that can shoot further then any small arms now, be more accurate, have NO flash or sound, and zero recoil. basically the perfect sniper rifle
edit: isnt that metal storm thing the military built basically an advanced railgun? ive seen vids of it, but never really looked into it

It isn't a rail gun. It's a coil gun.
Rail guns have rails.
Coil guns, linear induction motors, have well...coils.
