Honestly it isn't that much to get started. Best bet to see if you really like it is to go to a local ski shop early in the season(as in the next month) and get a seasonly rental. You don't have to return it till the season is over, so you don't have to pay fore ach day. Then if you relaly do get into it and go in the park and f up the board, no biggy. Also, you'll see if buyin nice stuff is worth it. Thats what I did.

Those look really sick. I just bought a snowboard off of SAC. regularly 450-500 for 200 shipped. Its a 155 nitro suprateam.

bluedev if u want to see some good deals on goggles go here. I just saw that site today and it had some really good deals, mostly on goggles only. Whats your setup? After i get my boots/bindings/goggles/gloves i want to get a season pass to mthigh. (www.mthigh.com). Only an hour away so for SoCal so its pretty close. Also, do you know of any good snowboarding forums?

Hella jive indeed.

I board, burton board, some bindings, burton boots, smith goggles. I guess I'm really into burton mainly because it's big in vermont, since that's where it started.

I have a nice snowboard bag, so I can take it with me to vermont when I visit, or if we go to new zealand or something, hell yeah. Also, there's a mountain here, it's something like 13,900 feet, so it snows up there. This winter I'm going up. I usually shred with my friends, not listening to music, yeah.

Last winter I made this jump ramp in my friends yard (Vermont), since we couldn't go to mountain. It was around 2-3 feet high, we were just doing basic tricks, having fun.

EDIT: I've got some cool pics, brb.

Pics from last winter. I took them all, cept for one of me.

Kind of dark. We aren't good or anything, I hadn't snowboarded in a year and my friend was just starting. A week later though...

wtf sig?

Ellis you look really young in that pic.

Ellis you live in Hawaii.

Ellis, Did you live somewhere else last winter?

Ellis, I really want to try snowboarding but to get to a good hill is like a good 2+ hour drive. I'm afraid if I really got into it I would be force to make that drive every weekend I have snowboarded before but its been... 5+ years probably.

My sig? PBF comics ftw. www.pbfcomics.com

I was 13 (past tense) , maybe my jacket was far up on my chin or something.

I visited vermont last winter, so me and my friend snowboarded.

DJS2, thats a sick site but I hate oakley.

Ellis - rad man. Jammin in a yard is always a great way to chill with friends.

Hunts - Yeah, I'm still paying some of my stuff off(Jacket was 200, but will last for a good 4 seasons). Its definately the safest route though to rent for the year and see if its even worth the time.

You guys ever hear of Danny Kass? Or Grenade Gloves? Yeah, Danny Kass is from my town, he lived down the block. He started Grenade Gloves, which makes movies too, Smell the gloves, Night of the living Shred, etc.

Pretty jive. Definately gonna get those gogs. Gotta see me wit my denim jacket, pants, misfit pipes, and those gogs. Gonna look real nice, and comfy, and able to pull a 720 this year hopefully.

Got any videos of you boarding? When I'm sitting here in hawaii it stokes me to see snowboarding vids, makes me want to snowboard.

The closest thing I do to snowboarding is snowskating. In the winter we just set up PVC pipes in my friend's backyard and he has a little stair set so we just do stuff down that. I wouldn't mind getting into snowboarding though.

went up to a resort deal last winter with a friend. it was my first time. I used to skateboard, and its nothing like it. It was hella fun, but when i got to a big hill I'd pick up speed and just stop myself. The coldness was unbearable and i was worried i was gonna bust my ass going that fast.
I eventually ended up falling badly on my wrist and spraining it I believe... I actually did a few more runs, but then fell on it again and it was horrible.
Probabbly the only time I'll ever do it, but its definately a cool experience.

Ellis- No sorry. I can scrounge a few good ones up though for ya.

Nor*Ill - Snowskatin is sick, but we usually grab a quad and use a rope when we're stuck on flat ground.

Vincent- yeah man the cold is bad sometimes. You get used to it though. When I first started I messed myself up bad tryin to go to fast on a hill.
