Those muscles look weird.
You don't need them.

i have the 'v' cut - it's simple to work for, just do leg lifts and 'modified' crunches.
leg lifts:
lay flat on your back with your hands to your side palms flat on the ground and lift your feet up a few inches off the ground and hold it for a second or two. depending on what you want you should lift your leg 6 inches to build definition and 12in to make muscle... to develop it and get it at the same time try reps of a few 12 inches then a lot of reps of just 6in..
modified crunches:
lay flat on your back and put your hands over your chest in an 'x' position. take your legs and make a 90* angle straight up and keep your knees together but relax your feet. your body will make this kind of position "/|__o" with the flat line on the ground being your back and the 'o' bein' your head.
do the crunch, but while you go up with your body pull apart your knees as far as they go, and when going back down put your knees together... this will build muscle for your abs and really work and form a 'v' muscle...
the slower you do this the more muscle you'll build, the faster the more definition...
anywho have fun buddy, i'm not sure why you asked, trying to impress a girl maybe? oh well, gl!
*edit* when you first start to get it, it'll look like a small bump in the shape of a circle, and almost as a balloon filling in it'll move upward and start to build evenly!

i just do decline crunches with a 12lb med ball and that seems to work the lower abs quite nicely | |
