How to get a passport?
Well, I'm going to canada this winter with some of my buddies on a snowboarding trip. We need passports. Where, how, how much, what do we need, etc?

Go to the post office, ask questions there. They'll tell you all you need to know. It's like...100ish dollars I think.

Ditto, go to the USPS website and locate a PO that offers Passports. Not every PO does it. Also, you will need to write two seperate checks to pay for it. They also take cash from what I remember. Do it soon b/c it takes 4-6 weeks to get it done unless you pay more fees to have it rushed. Oh you can also go anywhere to get a Passport photo done and a few dollars cheaper then the PO. Don't forget to bring your embossed birth certificate.

That's probably the case.
Also, according to my quick google search it looks like it's Jan. 1, 2008...not 2007. It's probably not solid information, but it's what I found.

If you need a Passport DO IT NOW! They take a while to go through, especially in the winter when everyone is heading to the islands and such. You may not get it for close to two months.

yeah definately count on the customs giving you a hard time about it going back into the US.. i remember i was up in buffalo visiting my brother and we decided to take a small trip to canada for a day, went right up cause it ws 20 minutes frmo his apartment.. getting in the canadian dude gladly let us in. well coming back, the american guy was a hardass and made us find some form of ID for my brother because he didnt have his wallet with him.. it was kind of stupid though, because me and him look exactly the same, and i showed him mine and they refused to let us go.. eventually they somehow pulled up records and the guy "let us off".. but my older brother said they've pulled his car over and searched it for no reason before

ya know - i always thought you had to go to the courthouse to get passports done, that's really helpful that they do it at the post office...
thanks for that guys - i didn't know that either... but i did know it costs about $100 and can take as long as 8 weeks... so if you're going this december you should start a week ago... lol... have fun in canada 'eh!
dont get lost and have fun!

I went to Canada for Snowboarding trips twice last year. I'm assuming your doing one of the bus trips (Mt. Tremblant maybe?). I personally didn't have my passport for that trip, only my id and they let it fly, but it is strongly reccomended that you have one, because I guess I just got lucky. If you are flying, you 100% need one.

Me and my friends are driving up to Tremblant. Yeah, we figured we might get by without one, but better off with it. Where'd you stay? All the hotels I've found in the village require someone 25 or over to be there to sign in n ****. it sucks.

Yea, I went with a sponsered trip, www.skitravel.com , and they had us up in some condo's. Yea, I'd get one if I were you because they are probably gonna hassel a car full of teenagers. To get mine I went to this photo place and had them take the picture, then to the courthouse and filled out these forms and mailed them in. If you are in a rush you can get the passport expedited for an additional cost.
That said Mt. Tremblant is hella fun, and you are going to have an awesome time. Make sure you got to Le Shak and have some absinthe, it's bomb diggety. Also, there is a club there with a room made entirely of ice. And make sure you bring some layers, because on top of the Mountain it's insanely cold and windy.

dude, i went to canada this summer. If you have your original birth cirtificate and a drivers liscense, its the same as a passport. they'll let you through.
