we had to do a project in ap eco where we lived on 45,000$ a year tax deductible and ill tell you, you can barely sustain living on 45k
Tell that to my mom who has made less than $30,000/yr her entire life....

If you can budget you can survive off of pretty much any amount of money. Don't be greedy. You can live more than comfortably on $40,000/yr.

I want to be an environmental engineer or an architect.

I'd love to be a architect hired by the city because I'd make some awesome skate spots.

I considered architecture, but then found out that it is more "artsy" than I thought. Hell, to be accepted into the architecture program at UTK you have to make a portfolio of like 5 pictures. I saw some of the "basic" stuff. I about crapped my pants. I thought it was amazing. Some of it was crazy.

Man anyone can live comfortably on 20k a year. I lived with my mom on 10k CAD a year. I am in college, my tuition is 11k and I only have 18k to live and im living fine. You can live comfortably off any amount.

now that i said that, i dont think you could disagree.. its way too expensive living here

Okay, a metro area would be a little different. That being said...I'd never want to live there, anyways.

its funny you should say that, cause i dont think i could live anywhere else haha

i honestly hate having to leave the area, its so different once you leave.. im used to the fast-paced NYC/long island lifestyle..

little things you notice, like waiting at a restaurant. went upstate w/ my dad to visit college, we were getting to impatient waiting for service.. go to a diner here, its order, eat, talk a bit, check, leave

40-50k is by no means menial when you're in your early 20's. That's the starting wage, from there on in it just goes up. If I remember correctly, a mechanical engineer can be making about 80k a year by the time he's in 30's. The rest of the engineers is all higher, I believe the highest average is like 120k a year.

exactly. Being single and pulling in $50,000+ it's pretty comfy living. The salery just goes up after that and if you become a certified professional engineer, well i don't have the #s but expect a huge leap.

it depends where you live, because like i said its not easy living off 45k a year in the metropolitan area. especially new york city where you pay 1500$ a month in rent for a studio apartment in manhattan
