The kel is a semi auto. But, I shot a SKS during thanksgiving. It was alright. I just wanted something cheap to shoot. And for $300 and ammo $6 a box. I would much rather have that than $300-350 used, and $14-$17 a box.
But after using this a little bit, I am thinking of something a little larger. This is just to start out, I am doing this like paintball. Started out with a cheap b/a .22. Now this semi .223, then moving to something good. Not sure what though.

An SKS would have been a cheaper route if you wanted a cheap rifle and cheap ammo. The first SKS I had I got for $100 and my second I got for $40. I feed em Wolf ammo that I get for $3.50 for a box of 20 rounds.
As for a nice rifle I think my next is going to be a Remington 700 in either .270 or 7mm.

Ahh, oh well. I like the looks better on this one anyway. And I will probably start reloading my shots. I can make them fairly cheap.

Yeah, I would like to start loading my own ammo too. Seems like it would save me some money especially in the larger rounds.

you could always get an AK47 lol. Good cheap semiauto calibers to look at would be 7.62x39, .308, or .223. Good pistol Calibers are 9mm (luger), 40S&W, .45 ACP, and milsurp calibers if its readily available.

you can get an ak47 if you want to not be able to hit the broadside of a barn. what fun is target shooting then?
.223 is expensive as crap right now. my friend never shoots his AR-15 because of it.
