hmm...deadly mold...
I have reason to believe that there is deadly mold growing in my apartments bathroom. I've lived here about a week now and i noticed that the tub kinda leaks after i take a shower. Now the tub itself doesn't have cracks so i think it has to do with the plumbing from the tub's drain. It leaks onto the floor from one of the corners.
SO i was kinda like ok sure no biggie....i'll get the landlord to patch that up or something...
and i take a closer look.
Now, i have this checkered black and white tile so i didn't see this until today but...there is actually a PRETTY damn thick carpet of mold growing out of that tub corner. I didn't see the mold because it is black like the tile it's on.
Black mold....thats a new one...so i look it up on the internets and SURE ENOUGH:
Stachybotrys - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
I read up on it and apparently it causes sick like symptoms such as sore throat, congestion, sinus crap, coughing etc...
ALL OF which i've came down with in the past 4 days so uh....
****
any advice?
i filled out a work order to fix the leak but i mean....should i be getting the **** out of here?

Tell the landlord about your situation, and demand they get it fixed, and don't pay rent untill it's fixed.

And if they try to evict you because you didn't pay, sue em. They should have the common sense not to make their tenants live in toxic mold.

Engage in chemical warfare- bleach, rubbing alcohol, lysol, fire. Lots of fire. Make sure you leave the apartment well ventilated... with propane.

Call a pro, make landlord pay or don't pay rent. Win.

I want to know what this deadly black mold looks like...
Or take a video of lighting it on fire. Yes. That sounds better to me.

sorry to necro thread. I done killed it off tho...and the symptoms went away.
believe it or not...this kinda thing is very closely related w/ the "college blues" that a lot of college students in lower budget apartments experience. They just feel like crap for a few weeks until they
A. figure out there is a mold infestation in their bathrooms
B. get used to it and develop a tolerance, even though longer term problems such as bacterial growth in the lungs forms
