This is why America is in decline
So now kids that are good at sports can't play because the other kids can't keep up? This is the mediocratization of America(i know that isnt a word). Kids that are that much better than other kids are punished? Good lord the USA has become a breeding ground for pansies!

I know what you mean, they put down the people who are uber good to make the people who suck look better. Its the same with our schools now. Lowering the test standards so lazy people can pass. *sigh*

That just pisses me off so much...
Ach. I just ended up writing an 800-word paper for school about that for my English teacher. That's how pissed I am... What the hell is wrong with America?
If everyone wins, nobody has an incentive to improve, and if that happens then as you say, dhill, we're 'mediocratizing' America.

wow thats very weak.
Around here though like 7-10 year olds or so play something we call "Farm League" with a pitching machine.
As soon as you leave farm league any kind of ball speed/fancy was allowed as far as I know.
I got lucky enough to play on a very good team ( Not being to shabby myself ) and we had the leagues fastest / fanciest pitchers on our team. So I didnt ever have to go against anything crazy except for at practice.

To everyone who agrees that there is something wrong with not allowing this kid to pitch, please read at least one of the following: Anthem, The Fountainhead, or Atlas Shrugged. All of which are by Ayn Rand, and all of which you should read regardless (though I admit I have not read The Fountainhead yet). Anthem is only ~100-150 pages, while the others are considerably more. Brave New World is another you should read.
Also, I strongly urge you to see The Incredibles if you haven't yet.

There's quite a bit wrong with this...
#1. Some arabs aren't Muslim, and most Muslims don't believe in killing people, these are simply radicals. Hell, normal Muslims believe in the Bible and that Christians go to heaven too.
#2. The majority of people who don't like God being spoken in schools are atheists, not foreign.
And yes, I do believe that its some bull**** how people are sheltering this generation. Yay for a padded world with no sharp corners and no suprises!

and Allah is simply another word for the same God that the christians praise. muslims are down with Jesus, they just don't consider him the messiah.

Lets get back on track here.

"He is a very skilled player, a very hard thrower," Noble said. "There are a lot of beginners. This is not a high-powered league. This is a developmental league whose main purpose is to promote the sport."

I read the article and According to what it said, he had an opportunity to play in a more advanced league and did not take it.
A 9 yr old kid getting hit by a 40 mph pitch is not a good thing. It's not happened yet but it will; it always does. It also appears that hs mother was getting out of hand, which could also be another very good reason to not allow him to be there. Angry parents at little league games is not fun for the kids playing, the people watching , or the people trying to keep order.
Lastly what is a 9 yr odl doing pitching? What is that coach thinking?! He's going to end up hurting himself and then be useless when he's older.
