Looks like mother nature is gonna **** us up again.
Gustav is projected to hit Louisiana as at least a cat 5 hurricane and make it up to north la (where I am ) and still be a cat 1. My mom got a notice of insurance cancellation on the house today too.
Should be interesting.

Allen, I think it's time to move. Louisiana doesn't seem to like you very much.
I hope all works out ok for you. I remember when Floyd hit here in '99 as a Cat 1 we got over a foot of rain. It was pretty crazy, it wasn't bad enough to tear up houses, but it was very windy and a lot of basements flooded. I had to help my father set up a few of our 3" trash pumps at friends houses because their regular ~1" sump-pumps couldn't get the water out fast enough. Crazy stuff.

They are also saying we are gonna get around 24" of rain up here from this **** too.

When comming back from Houston to San Antonio, there was aparently an evacuation statement released, so more people on the highway made trip back home slower
I hope nothing too serious happens though.

That's just ****ed up... As soon as there's a chance your house can be damaged, what do the insurance companies do? Tell you to shut the **** up and get the **** out.
A bunch of scumbags...
Definitely a wise decision on heading for your grandpa's, I'm not sure where in TX that is but if it's anywhere close to the gulf I'd say drag those 3" pumps along with you, just to make sure...

Well everything turned out just fine for us up here. The storm ended up not being near as bad as they were predicting it to be. We are still gettin a **** load of rain and some 20-25mph winds but it looks like everythings gonna be good.

I wouldn't be suprised if they didn't hype almost any hurricane now. To keep stupid people from staying like they did for Katrina.
