Oh waL...
Cherish these days. The days of your high school life are arguably some of the best you'll ever live. You have limited responsibility, limited liability, and element of freedom (driving) that most elect to take, and income that is mostly disposable.
You receive all federal and governmental holidays off, some of the lesser holidays too, and 3 months off during the summer. The jobs you work and places you work for realize you're in high school and don't necessarily "need" the job - so random call-offs are expected.
I get 6 mandated holidays - 3 floaters - 2 weeks of vacation (+1 every 5 years of service capping at 6 weeks) - and 5 sick days - and if we want to count them ... 102 days that I "probably" don't have to work 8.5 hours and commute an hour during. Someone will probably follow up with "wow..you have it good...I only get xx days + xx flex time.." and I expect that.. My objective was to point out the loose "182 days in session" figure I remember my 6th grade history teacher spouting off when we entered her class... After doing the math - I'm in the office 245 days a year. This doesn't count extended hours I"m expected to bring my laptop home to monitor things, days I voluntarily bring my laptop home just so I can get 2 hours of work done without interruption..etc.
I know this sounds like some father-figure telling you to appreciate what you have - but...even though I'm not as old as the hills...or Miller/Medic... I'm starting to adapt the opinion that youth is wasted on the young. You may not like school..but love every moment of it you have left. I remember being 16 and wanting to be all grown up and responsible and able to do what I wanted...
...frankly, the rules/guides my parents had in place...seem a bit more appealing to me now. Ha....
