The WRX isn't japenese, it is from Subaru (an Austrailian company) which is a sub-division/partner of General Motors. That makes it ok with me.

I thought the whole Australian thing was merely a marketing ploy. That is what everyone says. It may be a sub-division of GM, but I am almost positive it is not Australian.
As for the whole WRX STi vs Evo, in Car & Driver they placed the Evo ahead of the STi. Not because it was faster (it was slower by just a bit) but because they said it was more fun to drive, more responsive, and just an overall good ride. I personally would take the Evo over the WRX/WRX STi, just to be different. But that is my opinion.

Whoops, Subaru's are assembled in Japan with american made parts. (I just found out their headquarters is right here in NJ) However, the GTO is made in Austrailia

just get the corolla, you won't have to worry about looking "cool" and the corolla is pretty safe, cheap, and reliable. I really don't see the need for somebody's first car to be something fast(rice or not). We have enough stupid teenage kids on the road trying to show off and be cool that just end up killing themselves in cars they haven't learned to handle yet.

I checked out the Subaru WRX STI, it's the one that's 30 grand. It's got a little bit better HP then the Evo, and I was wondering what you guys thought I should do! Also, sorry for asking inside this post, I just didn't want to make another thread just for a small question like this.

I say go for the Lancer. Be differerent.
Oh, about that GTO, I think the wing is to big. I don't like it, their trying to bring it back and it just isn't lookin right to me. They should have went oldschool with it instead.

I have recently been looking into the Infiniti G35 alot. I have to say I am pretty impressed with it. The only thing that bothers me a bit is it doesn't have AWD or 4 wheel(meaning bad weather isn't its friend), but other then that it is great. It's faster then most of the Audi's, BMWs, Mercedes, Lexus', and Jags you see on the road and a heck of a lot cheaper. I think I may have to take one for a test drive to see if what everyone says is true. Apparently it is a derivitive of the skyline, but a much more "Americanized" luxery version.

Exactly. Not to mention though the Evo may be a bit slower, from the articles I've read it is a ton more fun to drive. You'll like the Evo, I'm sure of it. Plus no one else has it. And, IMO, it looks better.

yea it basically is a skyline. I just wish they didnt rename it, they should of just called it "Infiniti Skyline R-35" instead of just "G35". I've seen a few people where I live who have taken off the infiniti and "G35" decals off the back and put on SKYLINE and GTR decals.

I was talking to a friend of my dad who literally eats, sleeps, and lives cars. Believe me when I say...this guy knows more about cars then all of us combined. (You name it, chances are he has or had one. He has an original shelby Cobra, two Lotus', plus a bunch of other stuff. He had a Mclaren Formula 1 race car, a 1952 Bugatti, 3 Shelby Mustangs, a Honda 2000 as well as lots of other stuff he didn't say. ) Anyway, he said if you want a good car for a new driver get a new Mini Cooper. For about $20,000 new you can get a 200hp, front wheel drive Cooper with airbags everywhere, stabilitrack, lots of saftey, nav system, sunroof, and believe it or not it is pretty roomy (for the front seat). The best part is is it is made by BMW using all the same standards and technology. He said for that price you can't get anything better new.

You get a lot more from the Cooper in a lot safer car.
Oh, and if you want a used 4-cyl car for about $20,000-30,000 get a Lotus, much better then the Toyota according to him.

The MR2 is rear wheel drive, the Cooper is front with special no-slip systems for snow. It is a much better vehicle for inclimate weather.
