No I don't agree on that...Those are ideas within the party, most people consider themselves Republican or Democratic

i would just like to comment on you saying not to argue... this is about politics, theres always gonna be arguing....

and btw, this thread is very interesting to read and entertaining at the same time. im 15 and admit i barely know anything about politics. i know the basics, but most of my own personall views come from my parents and teachers and stuff. us as kids dont pay taxes or many other things that adults and voters do, so we cant really form opinions cuz at the moment, they dont personally affect us that much.... my 2 cents

This is what I'm talking about.

Anyone who says things about the government "beginning to get corrupt" needs to look at Louisiana in the 30's and 70's, and Chicago in the 20's. There have been points in this country's history marked by much larger amounts of corruption and by pretty much all accounts it's much better than it used to be. This is, of course, despite what Hollywood wants you to [makes you?] think.

Also, our government is designed to be very resistant to change. The two party system is inherently resistant to it. The party not in majority power in Congress does its best to prevent the party with the majority from pushing its agenda. The President is often of a different party from the House or Senate, and the Supreme Court is a mixture of influences from the last several presidents. Passing a Constitutional amendment is extremely difficult. The whole point of the system is to make change so slow and painstaking as to only allow the major changes that are both absolutely necessary and not simply in style.

If i said which is better, or asked a debating question it would be to argue, however, i jsut asked what people consider themselves as. I am sorry I ever made this thread. Once again just trying to take a simple "survey."

I agree with you. The 20s & 30s had a ton of corrupt government officials. You could buy off anyone who held an office position, and the people with the real power had the money (and if needed, firepower) to do so. However, I think the 50s were truly one of the better (if not best) eras in the USA's short history. I think most people here would agree with me, too. Then the damn hippies came, and started to **** the whole thing up.

And the second part I agree with too. The only problem is, there is a way around it. While it is still hard to add admenments, stupid 'corrupt' judges make changes all the time. Well, in a way. They proclaim that this is uncostitutionall, but this over here is constitutional. The problem with this is, ONE PERSON IS MAKING THE DECISION. Well, for the most part....Depends...I think instead of saying "Yes abortion is illegal and it is unconstitutional to not allow them to get one" should have been voted on by the people it affects....THE AMERICAN CITIZEN. The other problem is, of course, this isn't a Direct Democracy. Which is a shame, in a way.

Don't get me wrong guys, I am a proud american. I plan on joining the military when I'm older, but our country is going down a bad route. Our law system is not what it was originally intended for. Our law was meant to be about the truth and justice, now it is simply about winning. Our Economy is based on trust, and with what we saw with Enron, multiple corporations are corupt and traking advantage of our economical system. The U.K. have a much more effect goverment. The House of Commons is way better then the house and the senate. Why? Well besides the fact that the british have been around a long time, in the Commons, you say what YOU THINK! In the House and senate, you say what the people will like, or what you peers would like. Our goverment is way bigger then it should be. I've liked what some of Bush has done...I was for going into Iraq at first, now I am unsure that we should of, but I still support our trooops. Our economy has turned to ****, Bush kinda kicked it when it was down, but hey, I still support our country. Bubbajr said this once, I'll say it in my own words. Our country is taking a turn for the worst, it is our job as americans to help change that. Don't sit back and say "Well our goverment is the best out there," That's the attitude thats going against it. Anyways, god bless america

Thats the attitude. You say it was more corupt in the 30's 20's whatever. But ignore the fact that corruption is showing now. We can't say, "Oh it's been worse" We need to keep trying and make it better

My point is that you have no idea what you're talking about. It's obvious you're just echoing some vague notion you've gotten by watching the nightly news every now and then.

You're what, 13? Give me a break.
